It was Friday night and just like every other week Acacia met up with her friends Serenity and Pilar at the usual bar that they hung out at.
It was a ritual that the three would follow after every work week. They had been doing it for years and the friends picked right back up where they left off when Acacia moved back to New York.
Serenity was running late so Acacia and Pilar decided to find an empty spot where they could sit and wait for their friend to join them.
The two had ordered their first round of drinks. They were planning on getting home with an Uber so they were definitely about to indulge in some liquor. None of them drank heavily but every once in a while they enjoyed some of their favorite cocktails.
"I can't believe that it's Friday already. This week has been dragging," Pilar stated.
"Tell me about it. It's been a long ass week." Acacia agreed with Pilar's statement.
Acacia met Pilar through Delano. Once upon a time Delano and Pilar were engaged. Even though Pilar broke off their engagement the two women ended up becoming closer than ever. They were always friendly with each other when Delano and Pilar were in a relationship, but now they considered each other best friends.
Pilar was the sweetest person that Acacia knew. After all these years Acacia was still trying to figure out how her brother managed to snag her. Someway, somehow he finessed his way into her life just to fuck everything up in the end.
On paper the two didn't seem compatible at all. Delano was always very outgoing and the center of attention majority of the time. Pilar on the other hand was moreso reserved and quiet, but you know what they say; opposites attract and they made it work until it didn't anymore.
No one knew the real reason why the couple broke up. Acacia had her suspicions but she didn't have any proof and she wasn't one to pry for information either. She didn't like getting into relationship drama like that.
Delano and Pilar were cordial with each other and spoke whenever they were in the same vicinity, but there was always this awkward tension between the two. That's the main reason why they all tried to keep them separate as much as possible.
Delano didn't mind that Acacia and Pilar were still cool with each other, but he forbade Acacia on informing Pilar about anything that he had going on in his life. Especially if it involved other women.
"What's up bitchessss?" Serenity inquired making her presence known loud and clear.
Serenity Clarke was the life of the party ninety percent of the time. Her name definitely did not match her personality. It was quite the opposite actually. Serenity spoke real as she liked to say; she was unfiltered in so many ways.
Acacia and Serenity met while they were waiting in line at a clothing store. Serenity liked Acacia's outfit and sparked up a conversation, the two became friends and the rest was history.
