STEPHEN POV:
You were finished talking with Wong about the men. He told you that more would probably come back but not for a while and if they did, he would come help. That didn't really assure you though, you wouldn't be able to take it if she got hurt again. Then, you made a portal back to the operating room where Morgan was. You looked at Christine who was half asleep in a chair. You walked towards where Morgan was sleeping, she kept twitching and making noises.
You then sighed and said disappointedly, "Shit...she's having a nightmare."
Christine quickly hopped up noticing you and said, "Yeah, she's been like that for the past thirty minutes. I didn't know what to do."
Then, Christine stood next to you looking at the girl. You looked at her with pity trying to make a decision if you should let her sleep because you knew she wouldn't get much sleep in the next few days or if you should wake her up from her nightmare. Your eyes began to fill with tears as
Christine put a hand on your back and said, "You make a great dad."
You went and sat down in a chair as Christine followed you. You buried your face in your hands and angrily said, "I can't even keep her safe for a month! She has nightmares every single night! And- and I can't help her! I'm a goddamn wizard and I can't take care of a sixteen year old girl!"
Christine then comforted you and said, "Stephen, you know that's none of your fault. You're doing the best anyone can do. You're probably the best chance she's got. Keep doing what you're doing. She'll get better."
You nodded knowing that she was right.
Just then, Morgan sat up horror-stricken. She was hyperventilating and looking around for someone to help her. You quickly ran to her side and said in a soothing voice, "Hey, hey, what's wrong."
She finally locked eyes with you and just began to sob into your chest. You held her against you and just hugged her tightly letting her know this was real. You comforted her by saying, "Morgan, sweetie, it's alright. It wasn't real. You're okay now."
She was still breathing heavily and sobbed, "No, no, NO! He was right here! I saw him."
Your eyes began to water again knowing the pain she was going through, "I know, I know. But he's gone now. He'll never touch you again."
MORGAN POV:
Why does this keep happening to me?
I can't do this anymore.
You continued sobbing into his chest as he rubbed your back in hopes of comforting you. You could tell he was whispering something to Christine but you really had no care in the world of what he had to say.
After a bit, he tried pulling you away from him but you wouldn't let go.
You were scared that if you let go, he would be gone, and it would all just be a dream.
You held onto him even tighter than before as he whispered, "Are you ready to go back?"
You nodded, still holding onto him. Then, he picked you up bridal style and opened a portal and said to Christine, "Thanks Christine."
You then looked around to see yourself back in your room at the monastery. Stephen slowly and gently put you in your bed and covered you with the soft sheets. He then whispered, "I'll be back in a bit to check on you."
You nodded and tried to fall asleep but you couldn't. You couldn't in fear of what your mind would come up with. You were scared that he would come back and try to take you.
Then, the medicine began to wear off.
You began to actually feel the pain in your stomach now more than ever. The adrenaline and drugs were wearing off at the same time. You began to slightly moan in pain. The noises eventually got louder until you were screaming in pain.
Stephen quickly rushed in and knelt beside the bed. He asked calmly, "What's wrong sweetie?"
You cried pointing to your stomach, "It-it hurts bad-"
He nodded and said, "Hold on, I'll be right back."
He came back with an orange bottle of pills. He told you, "Here, you can have one every six hours for severe pain, but I don't want you to get addicted so only if you are really hurting take one."
You nodded and took one of the pills. He stayed in the room with you until the pain finally subsided and you could relax. He then said, "I'm gonna go make you some dinner, just try to relax."
Then, he turned off the light as you shut your eyes and drifted off into a deep sleep.
You began to notice that the only time you got good, real sleep, was when you were on drugs. Did they really drug you that often at the facility to the point where you rarely had nightmares?
You woke up to the pain returning again. You turned to look at the time, it was late, around 1AM. You didn't know what to do. Stephen took the medication with him, you hadn't got up on your own after the incident, and you knew the severe pain would return soon. So, you did what anyone else would do in your situation: cry really loudly until someone came to help.
You felt tears coming into your eyes as the pain came back. You sobbed until you began to hear footsteps come near your bedroom. You looked up to see the door open and Stephen standing there with the same orange bottle and an exhausted look on his face.
He squatted near the bed handing you water and a pill, "Is it hurting again?" You nodded and he rubbed your head comforting you. You took the pill as he said, "I was gonna come in here earlier but you were sleeping and I didn't want to wake you. Are you hungry?" You shook your head but he said, "Morgan, you haven't eaten since this morning."
You then said, "Christine gave me chocolate."
He chuckled and said, "You haven't eaten a real meal since this morning and you barely ate anything there." He then asked, "Do you want to go back to sleep?" You shook your head no, you weren't really tired, you had been sleeping for a while now. He then said, "I've got something, hold on."
He then came back with a rainbow cube(rubix cube), he told you, "I want you to solve this." You held it confused until he said, "Put all of the red on one side, yellow on one, blue on one, and so on. It will keep you busy for a while."
You nodded and just as he was walking out of the door, you said quietly, "Done."
He looked at you shocked. He thought giving you this would keep your mind away from the pain so that he might be able to get some more sleep. He picked up the cube from you inspecting it carefully. He then asked, "How did you do that?"
You shrugged your shoulders saying, "I don't know."
He then chuckled and had a look on his face. It was almost as if he knew you were extremely smart, you just weren't given many opportunities. He then picked up a book from the same room and handed it to you, "Here, read this, you'll get bored quickly."
You observed the cover of the book as he said, "It's a book on neurosurgery."
You opened it and began to read intrigued.
Then, he smiled and left the room going back to bed.
