Nightmare

A few weeks later you began to slightly lighten up with Stephen. You continued training daily and you were learning how to fight. He still had not taken off your bond but you knew you could eventually end up doing it yourself if you kept training. You kept having nightmares every night. Recurring nightmares about being back at the bad place.

-----

"No! Stop."

They weren't stopping.

They kept torturing you.

Trying to get you to expand the boundaries of your powers. They realized if you had strong emotions your powers would strengthen. So that's what they did, they would electrocute you, cut you, hit you, whatever they could to make you angry or scared. This time they were electrocuting you. "AHH, PLEASE STOP."

But the main man(boss) just watched as the men tortured you. "MAKE IT STOP!" You yelled at him but he didn't make them stop. The pain was unbearable.

Your eyes began to glow and the boss said, "Keep going, you're almost there." They began to electrocute you even more, upping the dosage. "STOP!"

-----

Then, you woke up back at the monastery. You were hyperventilating, you felt like you couldn't breathe. Why does this keep happening to me?

Why can't I escape?

You then looked at the time, 1AM. You were so exhausted but you didn't want to go back to sleep in fear that you might be back there. So, the rest of the night, you practiced the mystic arts for a few hours. You snuck into the library to read a book, though you couldn't read much of it because your vocabulary was extremely low. The time felt like it was forever. You decided to just lay on the floor and just stare at the ceiling. You were so bored. As you stared at the ceiling, you slowly drifted off to sleep.

-----

You woke up around 9AM. You walked downstairs to see Stephen reading a book at the table. He looked at you confused and asked, "Did you get any sleep last night?"

You didn't want to tell him about the nightmare so you answered, "Yeah."

He raised his eyebrows and said, "The dark circles under your eyes say otherwise." You looked at him confused as he further explained, "When you don't sleep, your eyes get dark underneath. So why didn't you sleep last night?"

You answered, "I don't know! I just couldn't."

He knew something was troubling you but he decided to wait.

The rest of the day, you were extremely exhausted, you just wanted to sleep, but you had to train. He also did some schooling with you so that you would know what words meant. After dinner, he was showing you how to wash dishes as he said, "I want you to go to bed early tonight. You look exhausted so get some sleep."

You nodded and headed up to your room to get ready for bed. You learned how to shower by yourself by now and Stephen bought you some normal clothes. You quickly laid down in bed but feared for what was to come.

------

You woke up in the same room. The same room you spent your whole life inside, besides when they would take you to the room where they experimented on you. That was just down the hall. You heard footsteps outside of the door. You wanted to hide, but only having a bed, toilet, and sink in all white, there was no place you really could hide.

The man opened the door and said, "Let's go M, I have something big planned for today."

You looked at him nervously as you slowly got up and walked towards him. You walked in front of him as he kept his hands tightly on your shoulders. He brought you into a room and sat you down in a chair with a table in front of you. The bad men began to put wires on your head to measure your brain activity and strapped your head, legs, and chest to the chair and your arms to the table. Then, they all left the room and stood behind the one way mirror. All, except one man.

This man was in a hazmat suit and was carrying a glass jar with a pair of long tweezers. Inside was what looked like a bug. It was a scorpion. The man began to grab the furious beast and held it near your arm as you screamed, "STOP! NO!"

The creature began to creep towards you until its tail stung you sharply. You screamed at the top of your lungs and you felt the same feeling you always did when your power was arising. You began to concentrate on the scorpion until you made it explode. Then you felt lightheaded as your head fell forward in your seat and everything went black.

-----

You woke up sobbing, holding your knees to your chest, hyperventilating.

I can't do this.

You tried to stand up but your legs were too weak out of fear. You fell to the ground with a thud. You crawled your lifeless body to the corner and curled up into a ball. You just wanted to scream, you wanted to use your powers and just slam everything into the ground. You began to feel the same feeling when your powers came to life. You saw the bond on your ankle glowing as you got more upset, then you felt the bond's power subside. Things in the room were forced backwards, a dresser being pushed harshly against the wall, the lamp falling over, the bed was pushed backwards.

Just then, you heard a knock on the door, "Morgan? Are you okay?" You tried to stay silent but your sobs continued to escape your quivering lips. He quickly rushed into the room to see you in the fetal position on the floor. He squatted down next to you and looked at you in shock, "Hey? What's wrong Morgan?"

You slowly lifted up your tired eyes and sobbed, "The bad men. They- they-" You couldn't even speak.

He then asked scooting closer to you, "Was it a nightmare?"

You looked at him confused and he explained, "When you're asleep but it's like you're awake. It's scary."

You nodded and said shyly, "Nightmare."

He then asked, "What happened in it?"

You tried to explain as your voice broke, "The bad men, they w-were hurting m-me...Are they gonna get me?"

He quickly brought you into a hug wrapping you tightly in his arms, "No sweetie, they won't get you, not here."

He then saw your ankle and pulled back, "M, what happened?"

You looked at it and sobbed, "I'm sorry, I-I-"

You were a complete wreck, and he knew it.

He quickly interrupted you in a soothing voice, "It's okay, you're fine." You stayed in his arms for what seemed like forever. He eventually said, "Do you want to try to go to sleep again?" You looked at him with fearful eyes.

You were scared to fall asleep without him.

You didn't want to go back.

You cried holding on to him for dear life, "No, I can't-please-"

He did not want to upset you anymore so he asked, "Umm, do you want to sleep in my room? I know it doesn't seem like it but sleeping will really help you."

You nodded and he tried to get you to stand up but your legs were too weak. This was when he realized this was way worse than he thought. He carried you to his room and cautiously placed you on the bed. He then got in on the other side and right before turning out the light, he whispered, "It's gonna be okay love." Hearing those words gave you comfort and you quickly fell asleep.
