At first, Elsie didn't know how to react to the fact that her former friend had pulled out a Pokeball, challenging her to a battle. A Weavile appeared and glared at her. Part of her was still trying to wrap her head around the situation in general. But one glance at the three legendary pokemon made her regain her focus. She was here to stop a catastrophe from happening, not to be a sitting Ducklett and let Team Frost do whatever they pleased.
Shoving her confusion aside, she pulled out Skye's pokeball. 'If she wants to battle... so be it then. I'm not letting her or Team Frost freeze all of Holon just because they let jealousy take over.'
Demetria wasted no time starting the battle. "Weavile, use Dark Pulse!"
Skye took the hit head-on which caused him to flinch. Seeing the opportunity, Weavile ran toward the Lycanroc at high speed.
"Now use Night Slash!"
"Skye, use Accelerock!" Elsie called out.
Before Weavile could land another hit, Skye dashed forward at blinding speeds, ramming into his opponent's chest. The blow immediately sent Demetria's Weavile flying back, landing roughly on the ground.
'Though Weavile are usually fast, they can't take a lot of hits. I'll end this round quick.'
"Use Rock Slide!"
With that final move, Weavile was unable to battle. Demetria scowled as she returned her pokemon. Meanwhile, Elsie and Skye waited patiently for their next opponent to appear. The Lycanroc slid into a battle stance once again when a Cryogonal appeared.
"I'll put an end to your little role of the hero. Cryogonal use Sheer Cold!"
Elsie immediately paled when the move was called out. It wasn't long after until ice started appearing everywhere. Skye found himself dodging all the ice that was trying to hit him. Even though Elsie knew that Sheer Cold was inaccurate, one wrong move and then this round of the battle would be over before it officially began.
She couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief seeing Skye land safely on a pillar of ice, unharmed by the Sheer Cold in any way. But she still felt the need to ask.
"Are you alright Skye?"
Her Lycanroc briefly glanced at her and nodded before refocusing his attention on the battle at hand.
"Use Stone Edge."
"Dodge it and use Ice Beam!"
Cryogonal managed to avoid the Stone Edge before firing its own ice-type attack. Skye tried to jump out of the way but the Ice Beam ended up hitting his side. The Lycanroc tumbled down a smaller area of ice, frost now covering his side.
"Use Ancient Power!"
"Use Accelerock!"
Skye dashed forward, not giving Cryogonal any time to use Ancient Power. Similar to Weavile, it was sent back by the fast rock-type attack.
"Now try to use Stone Edge again!"
This time, Stone Edge landed, making Cryogonal unable to battle.
"What is with you!?" Demetria practically hissed as she return her exhausted pokemon.
The only answer Elsie gave her was, "We're in a battle."
Elsie ignored her former friend's glare as a Beartic appeared before them. She wasn't able to give Skye his next command before Demetria shouted one.
"Use Superpower!"
Due to his exhaustion from the previous two battles and a strong super-effective hit, Skye was down, unable to get back to his feet.
"Thanks for all your hard work, Skye," Elsie said as she returned her Lycanroc. "Take a well-deserved rest."
"Not so perfect now are you?" Demetria sneered.
Prism couldn't help but roll her eyes at that comment. They were still in the lead when it came to this battle. It took the efforts of three of her pokemon to finally defeat Skye. The whole match was practically one-sided in her opinion.
Elsie didn't answer, only bringing out Lucien to the battlefield. Seeing the fire-type turned the Team Frost's leader sneer immediately returned to a glare.
"Seriously?"
'She'd do the same thing if she was in my shoes. I bet she'd even mock me if I brought Prism or Sapphire into this fight.' Elsie thought but didn't say it out loud. At this point, she thought it was best to not reply to every little comment that Demetria had.
"Lucien use Flame Wheel."
The Arcanine instantly barrelled toward Beartic. The ice type tried to block the attack but was only able to hold it back before Lucien broke through, causing Beartic to stumble back.
"Now use Flamethrower!"
Almost at point-blank range, Lucien let out the biggest Flamethrower that he could muster up. Beartic growled at the intense heat, a burn appearing on its knee. When Beartic went to get up after it had fallen back, it fell back on its knee, clutching onto the injury it sustained.
"End this with Extreme Speed."
Again, another one of the Team Frost leader's pokemon was down.
'Something tells me that a lot of these pokemon were just gifted to her recently.' Elsie thought. 'I don't think there's any type of connection between her and her team from what I can tell. Aside from the Eevee that I remember her having. Is that Eevee a Glaceon now? I wouldn't be surprised if she was.'
At first, nothing happened between the two opponents. Elsie and Lucien waited for Demetria's next pokemon to be sent out but she made no effort to do anything.
'Does this mean that she doesn't have any more pokemon left?' Elsie thought.
After a few more moments, Demetria finally pulled out one last pokeball. "This is pointless. I have a feeling that just one battle isn't gonna stop you from getting in my way. So I'll just have to make it so you can't muster up any strength to fight back." At that, she sent out a Glaceon. "Remember this little one? She's grown up a lot ever since you abandoned us."
Elsie immediately noticed that something was off. Glaceon at first seemed shocked to see them. Prism simply stared at the ice-type eeveelution, expecting her to do something. But the moment they made eye contact, Glaceon just stood there.
"Glaceon, it's time to get our revenge. Use Shadow Ball."
Much to Elsie's surprise, Glaceon didn't do anything. Demetria seemed shocked by this action as well.
"What are you doing? Use Shadow Ball."
Glaceon looked back at her trainer and shook her head. That was when Elsie came to the realization.
'Glaceon doesn't want to fight us.'
This made the Team Frost leader clench her fist even more. "I don't know why you've been so stubborn. You've been like this ever since we put this plan into action. But your stubbornness isn't gonna stop me from getting revenge. If you won't help, then I'll just use better pokemon."
With that, Demetria held up a remote of some sort and pressed a button. The machines on the legendary pokemon seemed to light up despite being damaged. Their eyes began to glow red as they turned their attention to Elsie and her pokemon.
Elsie's eyes widened in panic, not helping but to take a step back. Seeing her that scared caused Demetria to smirk.
"There's still enough power to control them for a short while. I'll just use it to get rid of you. All of you, attack that trainer over there. Make sure that she can never make another move again."
Everything seemed to slow to a crawl. Elsie stood in horror as Lucien and Glaceon ran toward her. Beams of icy energy combined from three legendary pokemon also shot toward her. The last thing Elsie remembered seeing was a bright golden light.
