Pricolici This vicious creature is said to be the fusion of a vampire and a werewolf. Similar to the Strigoi, this beast is an undead soul that has risen from the dead to cause pain to unsuspecting lives. The Pricolici is always seen to have wolf-like features, resembling what people would call a werewolf. Some Romanian folklore describes that the Pricolici are werewolves in life and after death, and they return as vampires after they die. It's said that violent and malicious men are most likely to become Pricolici after their death, in order to cause more harm to others. The Pricolici has added to the legend that vampires can turn into animals such as canines, owls or bats. The common theme is nocturnal hunters much like vampires. (Pictures)

Bonus Mythical Creature:
Zmeu This creature doesn't have one single appearance, its descriptions vary from region to region in Romania. It portrays a negative character, some regions say it's the battle between good and evil. There are two forms of the draconic Zmeu, a large traditional dragon with a firey breath or a half-human half-dragon. The second version is described to have mainly an anthropomorphic body with dragon features. It walks on its hind legs and has a pair of arms that work like a regular humanoid being. (Do not confuse the Zmeu with the dracu or the balaur dragons.) Others describe the Zmeu as having an ogre-like appearance. In the card game, Animaterra, a card features Zmeu and the appearance is a humanoid being with grotesque monster-like traits.
