Hello, somehow you've come across this! Welcome! ^^

(This book isn't going to be anything serious in any shape or form.)

How the myths are chosen:
There are no specific rules I'm going off when I'm choosing the myth. I only keep in mind that I'd prefer it to be a full creature, though sirens, werewolves and shapeshifting entities are an exception.
If the myth is partially humanoid then that's fine, but if it's a human with powers or such, it's interesting but not what I'm looking for. Take witches, for example, they're really interesting but they're (for the most part) human with supernatural powers of some kind.

I hope this gave you a decent idea of how and why I choose a certain myth.

Design:
Character design-wise, they will be leaning towards humans. They won't have the round flag heads, instead, their hair will hint at their flag. They will be a mix of whichever creature/myth I've chosen and a pattern hinting at the flag appears as well, though this is not a solid rule so it varies from country to country.

Further Explanation:
Many of the countries will have a sort of ''Ability'' that ties together with the folk tale.

I will use the United Kingdom as an example. I chose the Spring-heeled Jack myth for him, with this devilish fiend comes the ability of fire manipulation.

When an ability is not overly powerful, I won't tamper with it, but if for argument's sake, the myth has the ability to kill someone with a mere blink- with no chance of survival-  Then I will either remove or make a setback for the ability. The reason why I do this is for a somewhat even power level, I do not wish for one country to be far stronger than another, instant kill abilities as just unfair in this case.
Not everyone will have abilities, but those who do will have a reasonable amount so even with the powers, they're still quite equal.
(I do hope this made sense, I simply don't need power scales that are all over the place.)

Relations/Family:
I haven't figured this out to the fine tea just yet.
My main idea is that with the empires (with some exceptions); all their colonies are their own respective countries and do not have anything to do with said countries anymore. When they were a colony so were they similar to an adopted child to whichever empire they were a part of.
(An example will be in Uk's chapter)

I'm putting a lot of effort into researching and making sure everything is right or at least to the best of my abilities. With that in mind, It will take time for me to make the characters, but in my eyes quality is more important.

I don't want to offend anyone from their respective country with incorrect designs, creatures/folktales, etc.
Everyone makes mistakes so please if you see something wrong do tell me. it's much appreciated!

I'm planning on making every country in the world!
At this moment in time, I'm working on the countries of Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North & South America, Australia & Oceania.
(I'm aware that Australia is a continent as well)
Africa & the United States will have their own book, the same goes for the continents listed above.

(Progress List)
