Chapter Five
The Meeting - 2 January, 2019[Tony's P.o.V.]
Once I feel the feet of the horse quit moving, quit pounding on the hard dirt of the Earth, I slowly gain the courage to peek out. My eyes slowly revealing the most gorgeous sight I've ever seen.
A beautiful woman, (h/l), (h/c) hair slightly blowing crazily in the wind and beautiful (e/c) eyes staring back at me as I become more comfortable on the back of my Other's companion. Her skin is a smooth, (s/c) color with slight damages here and there but it is just perfect.
As I look at her, my mouth can't create words. My brain refuses to string together the letters of the alphabet in order to communicate with the one person I've been looking forward to my whole life. Now that she's here, standing right in front of me, I'm caught. I'm stuck. No words can emulate how I'm feeling. It has to be her.
I've never felt so completed.
"You okay, sir?" She asks. Her voice has an accent, deep and rich but enough for me to understand her. She looked so concerned, however, as soon as her eyes glazed over her own animal, her eyes snapped back to my face with her eye brows scrunched together. "Are you-?" She quickly asks, cutting herself off to look at her horse as he began talking to her, only, I could no longer understand him.
"Um, I think so." I say to her before I even register what I'm saying. "This horse showed up at my doorstep this morning."
"And a dog replaced my horse t'is morning." She spoke, her accent becoming thicker as she speaks.
"Heh... what are the odds?" I ask awkwardly.
"Pretty slim." She laughs, holding her hand out in front of her to help me down. I gratefully accept the help, gripping her hand very tight as I slowly lower a leg to the ground and basically slide off the back of Archer, losing my balance for a second. "Thanks... I've never even been near one of these before." I say, gesturing towards the horse I had just fallen from.
"Really? I couldn't tell. Come on, let me offer ya' somet'ing ta' drink. Hop on Irving there, he's all saddled and ready." She suggests, pointing over to the other horse in our presence. I look towards the horse and gulp, slowly putting my dress shoes into the foot spot and gripping the top of the saddle.
"There ya' go, now just push down wit' your leg and pull wit' your arms, be sure to swing your leg over and connect inta' the other stirrup." She tells me, gracefully hopping up onto the bare horse across from me.
I do as she says, flawlessly hopping up into the seat and getting comfortable. "See! Ya' did great!" She spoke encouragingly. Her words bring a smile to my face as my heart beats quickly in my chest, only this time, not from fear. "Ta' get him ta' move, squeeze your calves inta' his side and click your tongue, or give a light kick on both sides o've his ribcage." She instructs, demonstrating it with Archer before turning around once more to watch me do it.
I lean around to look at the horse in the face before carefully doing what she told me. And amazingly, he does. He begins walking forward and following my new partner. "Wow, this is- this is amazing!" I exclaim, reaching forward to pet the coat of the horse's neck.
"Oh, come on! You can do betta' than t'at! Give 'em a nice pat, they like it." She teases, patting the neck of Archer roughly, sounding like a smack, however Archer shakes his mane and lets out a small whining sound of happiness. So, I look at my own horse once more, doing the same thing and receiving a sound as well. Only, this horse bent its neck around and touched my shoe with its noes before resuming. "Look at t'at! He likes you!" She spoke happily.
"Hey, I could get used to this!" I say, a smile on my face as I look over towards her, her own smile brightening mine.
"Well, you're going ta' have ta'! You have me now! This is my livelihood." She speaks, having Archer come closer to me. She reaches out a hand, "[Y/n] [L/n], nice ta' meet ya'!" She speaks. I grab her hand quickly, loving the feeling of our contact.
"Tony Stark." I respond.
A gasp is given from her, her eyes widening at the mention of my name, a huge smile stretching across her face. "No way! You're messin'!" She speaks, when I smile again, raising my eyebrows quickly with a shrug, she gives a light hearted scoff. "You're not! My soulmate is'a Avenger from America?" She asks, her accent thick and beautiful.
"Yep! The one and only." I reassure. She shakes her head with a small laugh before continuing on with our small chat.

We make it into her small little house, leaving our shoes by the door seen as they were covered in dust. I look around her cozy home and notice how it's filled with stuff I would never have. Not in a bad way, but in a way I never thought about before. Like a soft rug on the floor near the couch and pillows and blankets lining the back of the couch, or small plants hanging the corners of the rooms with tall standing ones sitting on the floor. It was the most welcoming feel to a house I had ever been in.
I had always seen pictures of houses like this, but actually being in a room with the feel, is completely different. Not cluttered like I previously felt about it. It feels so welcoming and homey.
"I love your home, very beautiful." I complement, walking up to a large plant and feeling the large leaves.
"Oh thank you, but I bet you've seem way cooler homes than t'is." She spoke, hanging her hat on a hook near the door and tossing a key ring onto the surface of a small dresser near the front living room. She heads over to the large kitchen and begins boiling water, "Coffee or tea?" She asks.
"Uh, I'll try some tea." I say to her, reaching down to feel the rug by the couch. I'm surprised to feel a softer feeling than I expected. "What is this?" I question.
"Hm? Oh t'at, my father made t'at in his late t'irties as a present ta' my mod'er (mother) once they found each other. It's the pelt o've'a cow. Synthetic, of course. But I've had the damn t'ing all my life." She spoke, fixing two cups of tea and bringing them to the couch to sit next to me. She places her cup on the coffee table after she takes a sip and sits back up, crossing her legs under herself before looking at me.
"So, what brings a big shot like you, ta' the small town o've here?" She questions.
"Hm, well," I take a sip of the tea, "Damn! That is good! Anyway, I was starting to feel used and shut up in Miami, so I brought my kid here to get away. Bought the house up the hill right there." I say to her, pointing in the general direction of my new house.
"You have a kid?" She asks genuinely, no sadness or jealousy.
"Oh, Peter! Yeah, he's only got me and his aunt left so I basically took him in. He's uh, he's a great kid. You should come meet him!" I say, offering her the opportunity.
"Wait, t'at house up there was like six million or something crazy like t'at." She questions.
"Uhm, billionaire?" I say, teasing her about who I am.
"Wow, t'at really puts it in perspective. 'Cause you here the word 'billionaire,' but you neva'r really let it sink in." She speaks, resting her head on her fist that rests on her leg. "Yeah.." I trail off, realizing the own extent of my money compared to the regular person's.
For hours, we sit and talk back and forth. Learning and asking questions about the other as we get to know each other. However, a text message rings out in the air. I reach for my pocket and pull out my phone like I always used to, turning the screen on and quickly reading the text. My skin grows cold and my heart stops with my breathing.
"Where have you run to this time? I will find you."
