I looked out the window of the plane, seeing the runway. About to take off I lean my head back and think about why I'm here.
I got off the bus and started walking towards the house. I wasn't really paying attention when someone behind me called my name. I turned around to only be knocked to the ground. Once again the girl next door, Brooklyn and her group of thugs had beaten me up. I fell to the ground and I knew I had a bleeding scrape on my face, but I didn't care this happened all the time. I didn't talk. That's why they did this. I went to school and minded my own business trying not to get in anyone's way, but still these girls targeted me. "Oh, cat got your tongue? Why don't you just go kill yourself? Not like anyone would care anyways."
The girls all just laughed at me and walked way. I just laid on the grass for a few minutes just making sure they were all the way up the street. Picking up my book bag, I felt of my face. It was already swelled up. I worried about my dad getting mad again. He always said he couldn't do anything unless I told him what was going on. I hadn't talked to anyone since my mom had left us. And I wasn't planning on it. I made my way up the front door, hoping my dad was too busy to notice me, but I couldn't get that lucky. He flung open the door to see his own beat and bruised daughter. "I can't do this anymore. You come in everyday always beaten up, and I can't help you because you won't talk to me. Hell you won't talk to anyone! I can't keep taking off from work to make sure you even make it home! I hate to do this to you Lauren, but I have called your cousin Joshua in California. You are going to live with him until you graduate in May and then if you want to come home after that, it is your choice."
One week and three suitcases later, here I am. My dad had booked a flight for me from Atlanta to Los Anglos. I love my cousin Joshua, but I was afraid of his friends. You might be a little confused, let me explain. I am about 5'6" with darker brown hair. I am average for being a seventeen year old girl, but my cousin is far from average. He is a huge nerd and a little internet famous. Oh who am I kidding! Working on the channel Smosh Games, they are viewed by millions of people daily. Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled. I had promised my dad that I would try and talk when I made it out there, but I didn't know if I could. It had been a long time since I had spoken at all. I laid my head back and tried to catch some sleep before we landed.
When I was woken up by the lady next to saying that we were about to land, I grabbed my backpack from between my feet and exited the plane when we got the okay to do so. I made my way through the gate and to the belt to pick up my luggage. I grabbed my first suitcase with no problem, and the second I just waited for it to come around again. My third was going to take a minute and on my second try I almost had it, but it slipped from my grasp. The second I wished I had someone taller to help, a blonde haired guy jumped for my suitcase yelling "I'll get it for you!" He landed on the belt going around until he went through the curtain and disappeared. I was a little concerned, but was distracted by a hand on my shoulder and a familiar voice. "I see you have met my roommate, Wes. Sorry about that Lauren."
I turned to see my cousin, Josh, smiling down on me. "Hey Joshua." I felt my voice crack really bad. It hurt my throat. The guy Wes came back around with my final suitcase and I was about to grab it but he insisted in helping me with my suitcase. Joshua just shrugged, "He's been acting weird since I told him you were coming to live with us. So don't mind him he is just a dork" I laughed, "And you're not?" Joshua just laughed and shook his head. We got in the car and headed to their place.
Wes helped me with my bags as Josh opened the front door. It was just like I thought. A real 'Lad Pad' with no décor or anything. "Sorry, I hope you don't mind sharing a bathroom with Wes, and living across the hall from him. I give you permission to beat him up if he gets to be too much." I heard a faint plea from Wes down the hall. I followed Joshua to a room and I reached for the door knob, but Joshua grabbed my hand. "Before you open the door, I have to say if you don't wanna keep anything in the room you can change it. Let's just say that my friends from work went a little overboard wanting to decorate for you and there's a few other things from me in there." He let go of my hand and I turned the door knob and swung it open. I was wide eyed looking at the room. It was painted a baby blue, but that wasn't what was so surprising. The whole room was Smosh and Smosh Games themed. I swear every piece of merch was in my room. It had all the posters hung everywhere, but above my bed was a Food Battle the Game poster and my bed had donut designed covers and pillows.
"I love it! I'm not a big Smosh fan, but this is great." I turned to hug Josh, and he sighed. "Oh thank god, I thought you didn't know what Smosh was!" I pulled away and gave him a look. "I have been in Georgia not under a rock." At that moment, Wes ran into my room pulling me further into the room. "There's more!" He pulled open the closet to reveal that it was already full of clothes. All Smosh of course. "Wes! Let her look around on her own. She can unpack and maybe find some more interesting things." Josh winked at me and pulled him out closing my door, to which I laughed at the poster on the back of my door. It was a photo shopped photo of Josh on a walrus. I looked closer and saw that there was some kind of writing on the poster. I looked a little closer. "I thought you could use a good laugh. Love, Wes the across the hall neighbor."
