Frowning at the message, Lisa looked past the other ships, in the direction Jennie instructed. She noticed five large shapes maybe fifteen miles away, realizing there were ships sailing in their direction.
Pulling her spyglass, she felt the same anxiety she felt when she left her sister; like her gut knew something was going to go wrong.
And damn it couldn't have gone more wrong than this...
Looking at the center ship's flag, Lisa felt her stomach drop.
A golden crown backed by a bright silver shield... Hyuna's flag...
Pulling the spyglass from her eye, Lisa stared at the five ships as they sailed directly towards them. There was no way Hyuna hadn't seen the trio, clearly going in their direction.
How had she found them? Was she even on the ship- or was it just her flag, and not her? Could Jennie buy them some time and push the fleet away? How were they going to fight off five ships?
Memories of the fear and panic Lisa felt when she'd first seen The Devil's Heart and her fleet flooded through her. Her face went pale, her palms clammy as she collapsed her telescope and quickly wrote something back to Jennie.
"Do you have a plan? –Lisa"
She sent the falcon back, pacing as she waited for a reply. It came a few minutes later, but was incredibly vague, Jennie clearly busy commanding her ship.
"Go for the center ship. We'll board right now. Stay safe, sweetheart. –Athena"
Right as Lisa finished reading the message, she felt the trio pick up incredible speed, Jennie taking them forward into battle. Cursing at the lack of preparation under her breath, Lisa quickly commanded for the crew to get ready. She pocketed the note and jumped back to the helm with a shaky breath.
The crew scrambled around the deck, the gunners jumping onto the cannons while their powder monkey's loaded them up. Every single cannon rolled out into position- about twenty guns on either side of the ship, plus a two four-barreled cannons on the front of the ship.
Lisa pulled slightly away from the trio, allowing for some maneuvering room once they got into the thick of it all. Sixth Heaven, which was given some extra artillery from Jennie's other ships, drew back to allow the more armed ships to take the lead.
With the center ship out of the way, Lisa was able to turn and see Jennie manning the helm of Demon's Soul, commanding orders. Even from the far distance they were, she could see the determined look on her lovers face.
Swallowing thickly, Lisa looked back ahead, noticing that the five ships were getting into their own battle positions. They were getting close incredibly fast, clearing about five miles within a matter of thirty minutes.
It wasn't until they were about three miles away that suddenly they decreased speed considerably.
She furrowed her eyebrows, looking over to see that Demon's Soul and Sixth Heaven were also slowed to a more natural pace. She looked across the water to see that Jennie had stepped away from the helm, leaning over the edge to look down into the water.
It was then that Lisa realized that her powers weren't working.
Now she was certain Hyuna was on the fleet of ships- there was no way Jennie would suddenly stop them... Which meant that now they were really going to have to fight her hand-to-hand...
Despite the fear that settled low in Lisa's stomach, she could feel something else bubbling up into her chest.
Anger.
