Lisa strolled across the gangplank, landing heavily on the deck of The Devil's Heart for the first time since she'd been captured. She glanced around the ship that had once been a bad omen to her; a message of death and destruction.
Now, it was just the ship of her lover; a powerful vessel splitting the waves with unnatural ease. There were no more bad memories tied to the painted black deck, or the crimson sails. She felt at ease walking across the creaking wood towards the helm.
Jennie stood powerfully, hand resting casually on the wheel as she kept the ship close to The Oryx's Revenge. Lisa trotted up the steep stairs, removing her captain's hat as she moved closer; it was an unspoken rule that while on The Devil's Heart she wasn't the captain, but instead the first mate.
Seeing her blonde lover, Jennie smiled wide. "You called, Captain?" Lisa grinned back, resting her hands behind her back. Jennie adjusted her own captains hat, pushing the wide brim up as the wind fluttered against her dark red and grey jacket.
"I did... I have some thoughts, so I've called everyone here to discuss it before we get any closer to the main land," she explained, casually stepping away from the helm. She requested Lisa to follow her, trotting down to the deck of the ship before turning into her quarters.
Unlike Lisa's office and bedroom, Jennie only had one level, but the room was considerably larger. A large bed was set into one of the walls, privacy curtains pulled aside. The bed was clearly unused, the sheets clean and with very little wrinkling.
She had a typically large desk pushed farther back into the room, covered in maps and charting tools. However, in the center of the room was a massive table with at least ten chairs. A beautiful candle chandelier hung above the table, lighting the entire room.
Much like her room back at Jeju City, almost every wall was covered in book shelves. Whatever area didn't have shelves either had impersonal paintings, or nothing at all.
Lisa had realized long ago that Jennie never really got attached to material objects, considering her dangerous life style and the constant threat of death. Instead she cared more about stories and things she could fondly keep in her head.
No one else had arrived yet, the room empty. Jennie led her to the head of the table, instructing her to sit to her right; the first mates seat.
As Lisa sat, Jennie leaned to pour her a small glass of wine- something she'd never do for anyone but her lover, Lisa was well aware.
"So, have you picked a first mate yet?" She asked casually, sliding the cup over to Lisa, who softly thanked her. "No, not yet... There's a few of my crew who I'm already getting close with, but I'm still figuring them out." Jennie sat down after putting the wine back in the center of the table, eyes watching Lisa as she spoke.
"You've been captain for less than forty-eight hours, that's to be expected. But they're treating you okay? No one's been disrespectful?" Jennie gave her girlfriend a serious look, her eyebrow arching.
Lisa laughed, her chest swelling with affection at knowing how protective Jennie was. "Even if they were giving me a hard time, I'd deal with it myself, love. I don't need you running to fix all my problems."
Jennie hummed, looking unconvinced that she didn't need to protect her constantly. Lisa laughed at the look, about to reach over and reassuringly grab her girlfriends hand when suddenly one of the second mates entered.
She greeted Jennie first, then Lisa, politely nodding with a smile. Dropping the previous subject, Lisa talked casually with the second mate, the rest eventually filing in; there was a new second mate who sailed Jennie's newest ship- Demon's Soul –Lisa fondly introducing herself when he sat next to her.
