CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE - THE EVOX SNARE

𝓣𝚁𝙴𝙽𝚃

"STATUS REPORT." Commander Shaw said as she sat down in her chair. I was at the base with Devon and Ravi, wearing a black jumper.

"Citywide communication is open."

"Fellow citizens of Coral Harbor, I'm Commander Shaw of Grid Battleforce. As you know, Evox has been trying to take control of the Morph-X Tower network. We have reason to believe that he may have compromised the network's computer system. This puts the entire world in jeopardy. Therefore, effective immediately, the towers will be shut down, and the Morph-X will be returned to the Morphin' Grid, where Evox cannot reach it. The old power system will be turned on temporarily. Thank you." Commander Shaw announced.

"Communication ended."

Commander Shaw stood up, walking towards us. "Commander, how can we know Evox didn't put some kind of malware into the system?" Devon asked.

"We're searching for traces of the Evox virus now. In the meantime, start draining the towers, one at a time." Commander Shaw ordered.

"Yes, ma'am. Beginning Tower One shutdown."

We soon met up with Nate, Zoey, and Steel who also had Dacoda with them. "For months, Evox has been using the mayor's body to appear to be human. But we know that human DNA corrupts his virus. By my calculation, such a lengthy exposure has made him more dependent on Morph-X to survive. He'll need lots of it." Nate explained.

"When he realizes that that the city's supplies are going away, he'll get desperate. We think that he'll show up in person." Zoey continued on.

"And that's when we hit and trap him with this— a hyperfreeze arrow. Check it out." Steel concluded, opening the case.

"It's a tricky shot, but I've made a new weapon formation—the Beast-X Ultra Cannon. It's perfect to shoot the arrow at Evox." Nate said.

"Whoa. Ultra Blaster and King Ultra Bow— combined?" Devon said in amazement.

"Ben, Betty, bring in the target!" Zoey said as Ben and Betty entered with a mannequin wearing a tuxedo while Dacoda picked up the weapon.

"All right, Dacoda, we're ready when you are!" Ben informed.

"Thanks, guys." Dacoda thanked them politely.

Dacoda pulled back the lever as the blaster began whirling. He fired at the mannequin, causing it to be covered in an ice block.

"Whoa! Pretty impressive, huh?" Steel asked as Zoey helped Dacoda set down the weapon. "And thanks to my genius brother, it's hard as diamond— no way out."
