Ladybug stepped through the open window into Adrien's room. She had been here so many times. She had watched so many movies on the T.V., listened to him perform song after song on his piano, they had cuddled countless times in that bed, and yet....

There stood Adrien, typing away on his computer. He was probably chatting with Kagami again, Ladybug knew they had a tournament coming up. She cleared her throat and he turned around to see her.

A couple months ago, his eyes would've lit up and he would rush over to greet her. But now his eyes stayed dim as he waved to her.

"Hey Ladybug."

"Hello, what are you working on?" She walked over to her boyfriend of seven months.

"Chatting with Kagami about the different fencing strategies we want to try." He said, turning back around.

"Oh, that's... cool."

"Yep."

"You've got a tournament coming up, right?"

"Yep."

"You excited?"

"Meh."

An uncomfortable silence weighed over them. Ladybug knew that they needed to talk, but she really, really didn't want to. She glanced at his screen to see the paragraph long messages he sent to Kagami. She doubted that they were just about fencing. Some part of her wished that she could be jealous that Kagami was having better conversations with her boyfriend than she was but she didn't really feel anything.

That seemed to be the theme these past couple of weeks.

"Is there something that you need?" Adrien asked, looking back at her.

"No, I'd just thought I'd drop by. Are we still on for tomorrow?"

"Yep. I'll meet you at the cafe at noon, then we can go and decide what else we want to do."

"Ok. Great."

Adrien nodded as his response before turning back to his computer.

"Sorry that I'm not really chatting a lot." He said, suddenly.

"No, don't worry, I get it. Tournaments can take a lot of energy and pre-planning. This one isn't in Paris, right?"

"Nope, it's in Spain, so we've gotta plan transport, hotels, what we want to see while on the trip, all that fun stuff."

"That's cool."

"Yeah. Kagami is really excited. We got partnered up to stick with each other while we're in Spain."

"So you two will be spending a lot of time together then?"

"Yep! It's gonna be great." He looked over at her and gave her the one real grin she's seen since she got there.

And it wasn't even caused by her.

"Anyways, how is your day going? I didn't even ask!"

"It's fine." She wished she could tell him more. About the weird customer she had helped today, about the newest design she was sewing, about the latest gossip from her classmates, but she couldn't. There had to be distance between them, no matter how much Marinette wanted to spill, she couldn't.
