12."Y/n, I'm not leaving you." "You won't have to."

(This is where we go off script)

"How about we make a deal." I suggest to Barron, who has returned to his true form.

"And what, might I ask, that be?"

I take a quick glance towards the stairs where Emma was hiding, who was now joined by Jake and Enoch. I mouth the words "trust me" to them before I turned back to face Barron.

"You said that you want my power... so... Take me and let the Ymbrynes go." Emma, Jake and Enoch all gasped.

I look back over at my friends to see that they were just as stunned as Barron to hear that I'm surrendering myself. Enoch tried to stop me but Jake stopped him before he could leave the steps.

"If you teach me how to use them, I could use my powers to make you immortal. No more experiments. You'll finally get what you want."

"My, my, you really know how to persuade someone. I'll take up your offer and let the Ymbrynes go... But, I want the two peculiars and Portman where I can see them at all times."

With a sigh, I watched as Emma, Jake, and Enoch all slowly walked down the stairs and stood behind me.

"Alright then, shall we?" Barron said in his usual, wickedly cheerful way.

Before I could walk towards the room, I was pulled back by a hand in mine.

"You can't do this Y/n, I can't let you."Enoch says as he pulls me in closer.

"Enoch's right, Y/n. There has to be another way." Jake chimes in.

"Listen to me, this is the only way to end all of this. After Barron releases the Ymbrynes, I want you to take the children to the boat immediately."

"Y/n, I'm not leaving you." Enoch said softly, grabbing my other hand too.

"You won't have to." I whisper.

I then do something I never in a million years would have thought I to do before now.

I kissed him. I freed one of my hands from his grasp and I placed it on his cheek.

It was a short kiss, only lasting a few seconds but in that moment it felt like I could stay there forever.

As I pull away, I scan his face for a reaction and was surprised to see a sad smile creeping onto his face, with the ghost of a tear.

"See you around, rainbow." Flashbacks from my first night at the house sped through my mind.

It broke my heart to know that I couldn't tell them the plan right then and there.

The moment was interpreted when Barron said,

"Young love. Don't you just wanna throw in in a bag, toss it in a pool and drop a weight on top."

To which I rolled my eyes. As much as I didn't want to, I finally let go of Enoch's other hand. I send my friends one last reassuring smile as I step into the room with Barron, them following closely behind.

Once we were in the room, he shut the door. He then grabbed Emma and put his hand spear thingy to her neck.

"You know, just repercussions. Go on, open the cage." He said, a little too happily.

I slowly walk towards the cage, careful not to make any sudden movements that might frighten him. Once the lock is off, it didn't take long for the Ymbrynes to fly out the roof and be free. I let out a sigh as the last Ymbryne flys out. I turn around to face Barron he was ready to trade Emma for me.
