Chapter 7
When we get back, we all sit together and discuss plans for a new home.
"So why can't we just build a new home out of wood?" I asked.
"Come on Cyrus!" Anna said hitting me on the head, "the whole reason we don't have a house is because it was made out of wood and it was flammable"
"Okay, so what are we going to make it out of?" I asked.
"I'm thinking we should build it out of reshen," Matt replied.
"Do you know how rare it is to find two-sided reshen?" Anna asked.
"I do. I'm thinking the basic one-sided reshen. On the outside, we can be protected from natural disasters and any kind of energy buildup," Matt explained.
"I'm gonna agree with Matt on this one," I say leaning my head in his shoulder.
"Alright. Well since we all need permits to mine for reshen ourselves, we can buy large quantities of it from mineral stores. We could also benefit from the use of technology so we'll have to account for that too"
"That's gonna cost quite a lot isn't it?" I asked.
"It is. We'll all work and pitch in our savings to build our new home," Matt answered.
From then we went our separate ways for a while, collecting enough to build a decent base. I went back to the anthropomorphic dimension to help rebuild the damage and clean up what the humans left behind including some broken architecture. I also tried contacting my friends, but they were all too busy with work in several different places. When the whole dimension went back to the way it used to look, I took all the money I got and purchased as much reshen as I could afford. In three months' time, everyone came back with materials for the new house.
"Alright guys," Anna smiled, "looks like we've got everything we need, let's get to work!"
Huge piles of reshen, tools, and technology lied around as we continued to build. For a couple weeks everyone worked pretty hard and we were almost done.
"Man, it's hot today!" I say sitting next to Matt.
"Can't argue with that," Matt smiled.
I smiled back and then look up at the sun with my hand above my eyes so I could see. After staring at it for a few seconds I look back at the ground so I didn't blind from staring at the sun. Both Matt and I ate lunch and talked for a few minutes until Xypher came over.
"Hey Xypher what are you doing?"
"I brought you guys these towels so you both can cool off," he said.
"Awe thanks". I petted him for a while until he ran off. I grab one of the towels and wrapped it around my neck.
"Ah!" I sighed, "it's nice and cool"
"It's great isn't it? Xypher must've infused these with water from Lake Aguin," Matt said.
"Lake Aguin?" I ask.
"It's a lake located in dimension no. 279. I'm not sure how but water from that lake is always pure and is always kept at 20 degrees Fahrenheit"
"Is that even possible? Having water that's always pure and cool?" I asked.
"Apparently," Matt said.
"Wait, if it's just water then how did you know it was from Lake Aguin?" I asked.
"Son, there's no way Xypher would've brought us towels that are still cool after touching a dragon's body and being exposed to this kind of heat," Matt smiled.
