Chapter 9,
I waited for hours until the officer who brought me came back. I stop working with magic and energy when I saw him enter the room. He brought me through different hallways and rooms until we arrived in a big open area. It had solid wooden floors and walls that were made of reshen. The judges were all lined up high up on a balcony like a jury consisting of only four member. From the expressions on their faces though, they looked like they had a much better place to be and that this was a waste of their time. When the officer presented me to them, he left and the first judge spoke.
"State your name," the old man ordered. He didn't look too intimidating, for he seemed as if he were half asleep and drunk before I even entered the room.
"Cyrus," I answered.
"Full name please," he asked in an irritated tone.
"Why?"
"Do not question me. What is your full name?"
"But isn't my first name enough?"
"Full name!" he said pounding his fist onto the table. As this happened, the rest of the judges seemed to write something down on a clipboard. I assumed that defying my "superior" lessened my chances of getting in. Although, this did imply that these people probably aren't just judges but perhaps generals.
"Cyrus Remidia Koredon. Are you all seriously just judges? Or are you of a higher authority, perhaps a general?" I asked.
"Now, rank yourself from beginner, intermediate, advanced, and master," he said completely ignoring my question.
"Yes," the second judge answered looking at the old man in confusion. He too probably didn't understand as to why he didn't answer my question, "we are all generals from different ranks"
"Well? What is your answer?" the first judge asked with, yet again, an irritated tone.
"Master," I answer without thinking about it for even a second.
"A bit cocky. Master's pretty high to start with," the third judge said, now intrigued by my choice and behavior.
"Yeah, I think master will be a good rank to suit me," I confirmed.
"High confidence is good, but too much is not," the fourth general stated.
"It's not confidence, it's cockiness," the first general argued.
"Anyways, are you sure you don't want to start with beginner? You can rise through the ranks and find where you fit in," the fourth general said
"I'm positive. You might be surprised to what you see," I replied.
"Now, what dimension do you originate from?" the first general asked.
"Taisakran"
"Alright then. We'll prepare one of the warriors in the master league," the third general said.
"Great". As they brought out my first opponent, I analyzed the figure to predict their strategies as well as develop my own. My first opponent had a hefty blue armor and two big half-sphered shields that were the same size of himself. As he approached, I look closely at the shields and see that on the inner rim there were open gaps on one and spikes from another. This showed that they connected to form a giant ball, probably to fill in the lack of movement and speed foundations of his fighting style. Apart from this, the shields are for defense as well as the armor, but I didn't really see much of an artillery anywhere. We shook hands and the referee pointed to our corners. When he yelled fight, he instantly connected the two shields and spun towards me at a rapid pace. For now, I had to dodge until his stamina wore him out a bit. When he returned back to normal, he didn't do anything. He stared at me for a long time, but he didn't do anything. I could hear his heavy breathing and I attacked while he still recovered. I didn't have time to wait for him to make another move. I casted multiple elemental spells to crush the shields in only a minute. I used a fire and water spell to heat and cool the shield twice and broke the shield with one punch.
