~ Chapter Eight ~

~ Shoto's POV ~

Time stood still as my mom explained to me and my siblings what was happening.

(y/n), my sister, my twin, my other half was in the hospital!

I started to feel guilt pool inside of me, as if this was somehow my fault! I was the one who should've noticed that she left our room! I was the once who should've sensed something bad was going to happen before it happened! I could've prevented all of this!

I started to spiral, when someone grabbed my hand. I looked up and saw Fuyumi, worry engrained into her face, "Shoto, are you good? You've been frozen in shock for the past minute or so, and it's kinda freaking me out a bit!" she exclaimed.

I silently nodded, which put a sad smile on her face, "Come one," She said pulling my hand a bit, "Let's go see (y/n)!"

I smiled at the thought of seeing her again. Even though I had just learned of her disappearance only minutes ago, it felt like it had been years since I last saw her.

I gripped Fuyumi's hand tighter. We looked at each other and exchanged anxious yet calm smiles. She led my brother and me to the car, and we all buckled up. Mom turned around to face us, her eyes moving back and fourth between the three of us, "You kids ready?" She asked in her usual calm tone, much different from her emotional outburst just moments before.

We all nodded, excited yet extremely nervous to see our sister, hopefully well.

I took a few deep breaths as we made our way to the hospital.

I just needed to know that she would be alright...

~ (y/n)'s POV ~

I wasn't well enough to walk, so the Pro Hero 'Flashlite' carried me as we made our way out of the charred building, and into the deserted parking lot.

"So, do you want to go in the car with the police, or with the pros? We travel through air by the way." he questioned.

I pondered on it for a second while looking around the parking lot. My eyes landed on Toya's-well, Dabi's motorcycle.

My eyes started to glisten, but I quickly wiped them free of tears before anyone noticed. The wound was still fresh of my brother leaving me for villains, but I had to keep it down so no one would suspect a thing!

"H-hey..." I shakily started, "D-do you think we could take that motorcycle?" I asked pointing in the bike's direction.

The Pros both squinted their eyes, as they looked over to where I was pointing. Hydra and Flashlite both looked at each other with unsure gazes. Hydra looked back over to me nervous expression, "Uh, I don't know kid...Why don't you just go with the Police, and we'll meet you-"

"Please! I just lost my brother a few months ago, and he had a motorcycle just like that! It would make me feel better if I rode that to the hospital!" I fibbed.

Now their expressions melted into ones of guilt, "Fine, but we need to make sure it has helmets!" Flashlite stated, pointing his finger up in the air.

I giggled, and we started to go over to the bike. Once they saw that there were two helmets, they checked to see if one fit me, and surprisingly one fit perfectly! Flashlite agreed to ride the motorcycle, while Hydra followed us by air.

Once we were on the rode, I felt an immediate sense of relief riding on the bike. It was the first time I had felt completely calm in what felt like months!

Once we were at a stoplight, I started to wonder something, "Hey, Flashlite?" I asked.

He turned his head to face me, "Yeah, kiddo?"

"What's your quirk?" I asked.

He smiled, "Well, it's called 'Flashlight'! Like my hero name! My eyes create these super blinding beams of light that are great for search and rescue! I can adjust the intensity, but not that much. The downside to my quirk, is that the lights never turn off, so I have to wear these pair of custom sunglasses 24/7, or I'd blind people everywhere I go!" He summarized.

I nodded in fascination, "What about Hydra's?"

He sighed, "That ancient reptile has a pretty badass quirk! Have you ever watched the movie Hercules?" He asked.

I nodded, I loved that movie!

He smiled, "Well, he basically has the same quirk as that multi-headed monster, the Hydra. He can generate any number of limbs or heads from his body as he wants, hence his hero name Hydra. And he can make them all different lengths! But he can only generate on type of limb at a time. He and I are partners for search and rescue. We don't get called to do a lot of the fighting stuff, but we are called quite frequently after battel!" He explained.

I smiled at the new information I had gotten. It kinda slipped my mind that there are heroes besides the ones that specialize in fighting! There is also search and rescue, support, and recon! It's amazing to think that so many different types can fit under the category of 'Hero'.

I was knocked out of my trance when we lurched to a stop, "We're here kiddo! Now let's get you to the emergency room!" He announced.

My nerves suddenly started to spike, which caused me to get anxious, "W-will everything be alright with me, Mr. Flashlite?" I asked nervously.

He gave me a soft smile, "I'm sure everything will be fine kiddo, but I don't want to make any empty promises!" He stated.

My nerves escalated as my heart dropped to my gut. That's not what your supposed to say to a child whose about to go into surgery! Your supposed to reassure them and promise that everything will be okay in the end! Even if you can't keep that promise, you do it just so they feel a sense of calm and safety as they go under the knife!

I shook that bone chilling thought out of my brain and put my bravest face on. I took a couple of deep breaths to calm my nerves and mentally prepare myself for what was about to happen.

"Alright," I sighed, "Let's go in..."
