When I stepped through the front door of the Curtis house, I was immediately bombarded by questions from Darry. He was like, the father figure of the group! He immediately sat me down on the sofa and began observing my injuries. Ugh, this is getting annoying.I'm fine!
"Oh my god, it's okay Darry, I'm completely fine!" I groan. Darry still looks skeptical.
"You got your head blown off." Darry says.
"Yeah, but like, I'm okaaayeuugh."
Darry shook his head and began cleaning my bandages. It was the most painful experience of my life, because I'm actually super ticklish! But I cant let him know that...I'm an independent Bee.
I look over to the kitchen where Steve and Soda are bickering over the last piece of cake. I look to the doorway and see Johnny coming out of the bathroom. His face immediately lights up when he sees me.
"Mitch!" he cries. "You're back!" and he smiles in a way like he doesn't mean to smile that hard, but he does anyways. His dimples are pretty cute, now that I think about it.
"Shoot, Johnnycakes, I was only away for an hour." I smile.
He flushes at the nickname. Being besties with Steve and Two-Bit and all, I've managed to pick up on all their little antics. Like Johnny's nickname. Even though I used to hang out with Steve and Two-Bit a lot, I've never really talked to Johnny or any of the Curtis's that often, actually. I'll see them at school, we'd acknowledge each other when I hung out. But that was about it.
I tried to hide my smirk. Well, nothing like the present to do just that. I have had my eyes on each and every one of them for a while. I felt a jolt of excitement run up my healing spine.
That night, I asked if I could stay the night. I really didn't want to go back to my stupid hoe-ass uncle. No way in hell am I going to clean the bathroom with a toothbrush again. Luckily for lil' ol me, everyone looked more than ecstatic to let me stay. I may or may not have been expecting someone to offer I sleep in their bed, but Darry had already made the sofa comfortable, and I held my pretty mouth shut.
I tried to sleep, but it was sorta difficult. I tossed and turned all night long, it must have been, like, 4 in the morning.
I guess Johnny had trouble sleeping too, because I heard him leave the room he was staying in (he stays over at the Curtis's often when things are particularly bad at home). He crept into the kitchen to grab a glass of water.
"Johnny?" I whisper.
Johnny almost spills his glass of water. Man, I felt kinda bad for startling him like that!
"Mitch? Why are you still up?" he asks. I can hear a smile in his voice.
"I can ask the same about you, y'know!" I giggle. I've been giggling a lot lately. Hee hee. Hee hee! Haa haa!!
If it wasn't so dark, if I wasn't as blind as a bat without my glasses, then I would have been able to see Johnny as he walks over to me. Luckily it's dark so he can't see me blush.
"I just can't sleep." I mutter.
"Me neither."
I sit up a little. "Want to not be able to sleep together?"
He goes red. But I don't know that, because it's so dark. "Yeah... yeah, I'd like that."
