Arriving at the space capsule, Bulma stopped in front of the closed door and had to talk herself into it again, //Don't freak out, don't freak out...//
Finally she opened the door and peered cautiously into the room. And already at first glance she realized that Vegeta wasn't present at all and made a corresponding face. Could that be a hint of disappointment she was feeling? But what was she hoping for? That he presented himself to her in his Adam's costume on the control panel?
//Oh Kami, get rid of those thoughts! Get rid of it!//
She shook her head and then walked straight towards the main console. There she put down her toolbox, glancing at the sticky note that Vegeta must have left her here.
All it said was: 'Broken'. Awesome. Really, really helpful.
Sighing, Bulma then began to get to work. It didn't take long for her to find the error either - but unfortunately, fixing it turned out to be a much bigger challenge than she initially thought. Sometimes a part didn't fit, then the right tool couldn't be found or the electronics went crazy.
And so she tinkered with the stupid control panel until late in the afternoon.
...
She scratched her head with the wrench and sighed.
"That cannot be true..." she cursed softly to herself.
And then she flinched as someone suddenly belted out the exact same phrase behind her, only a lot louder: "That cannot be true! You're still here?!"
Grumpy, Bulma looked back over her shoulder.
"I was hoping you'd be done when I came back," Vegeta added and all she had to answer was an annoyed, "Well, as you can see, I'm not!"
All of her previous engagements were now completely gone and she had no desire to please anyone. She was dirty and tired, her hair was greasy and she had a terrible headache.
And she could do without Vegeta's imperious nature now.
"Make sure you get this done today," he actually demanded of her. "Without 400-times gravity, my best workout is useless."
Bulma had just been kneeling on the floor and now stood up with an energetic jerk.
"Well, I feel so sorry for you," she replied sarcastically. "But I'll call it a day."
"What?" Vegetas eyebrows twitched aggressively.
Bulma rolled her eyes, but then tried hard to be a little friendlier: "I'll get it done tomorrow. Promised."
"But... I have no time to lose!"
"It's only one day," she said casually, brushing the dust off her pants. "Calm down."
However, when she saw his angry face, she felt a little queasy because even from a distance she could see the thick vein throbbing on his forehead. His eyes were narrowed and the slightly tilted head position made his gaze all the more sinister. There was no hint of a flirtatious smile left on his face. Vegeta just didn't feel like joking at all.
And it seemed he wasn't going to move an inch from the door either. He stood there like a cement wall.
So Bulma added grumpily, eyes closed, "What is it? Are you trying to force me to fix that stupid desk today? I warn you, don't take it too far..."
Suddenly feeling a slight breeze, she opened her eyes again - and her pupils suddenly contracted! Because Vegeta had appeared right in front of her and now slammed his hand against the outer wall of the gravity machine. Bulma flinched in shock and had to blink reflexively. Vegeta, however, kept staring at her and his eyes were filled with anger.
"You'd better not take it too far, puny Earth woman," he threatened her.
Out of the corner of her eye, Bulma glanced at his wrist, which was right next to her face. Then she directed her wary gaze up his arm until she met his angry, black eyes. He might not be of outstanding height, but she still had to look up at him a bit. And just his closeness, no matter how aggressively he presented himself to her, caused this strange excitement to flare up in her again. The tiredness was gone, as was the headache.
And then her facial expressions suddenly relaxed and she began to grin inwardly at her perfidious idea of throwing him completely off track.
"And you think that impresses me now?" she suddenly scoffed. Then she crossed her arms over her chest and closed her eyes. "You know what would really impress me? ...If you would kiss me now."
Abruptly Vegeta's angry facial expressions were suddenly terrified. "What...?!"
"But I bet you wouldn't dare," Bulma just continued, keeping her cocky expression.
Close to her ear, she could hear his fingernails scraping against the metal wall as he clenched his hand into a fist. He raised his other clenched fist in front of his face.
"I-I don't even want that!"
"Oh please!" Bulma turned her gaze back to him. "All the time you have me young, pretty thing here in front of your eyes! And you're trying to tell me you've never thought about it...?"
Vegeta's expression clearly betrayed how puzzled and angry he was at her words.
//What is she thinking, talking to me like that?! That vulgar woman!!//
But for some reason he still wouldn't let go of her. He was still standing in front of her, his posture unchanged, and her face was not even an arm's length from his. Maybe he thought he was showing weakness by breaking away from her now. But the Saiyan prince was not weak. And certainly not cowardly!
Obviously Bulma could see him struggling internally because she blinked at him, eyes wide and head cocked.
"Oh my... Maybe you don't even know how to do it?" she then guessed, tapping a finger against her cheek.
Now Vegeta showed his teeth angrily. "Of course I do!" he snapped at her.
"Fine." Bulma arched slightly for a moment as she crossed her arms behind her back. "Then show me."
But Vegeta was already so irritated by this brief approach that he blushed slightly. And that only made him angrier. He saw Bulma close her eyes and purse her lips. And at the sight of her delicate, pink lips, he suddenly felt very queasy. And hot.
He glared at her and the longer he hesitated, the angrier he got. By now he had clenched both his fists so tightly that the veins bulged on the backs of his hands.
But when nothing happened seconds later, Bulma opened one eye.
"Are you going to stare at me like that the whole time?" she asked him skeptically and then let out a soft sigh. "Sheesh, you're just as clumsy as Goku."
At that Vegeta twitched and his puzzled look multiplied in anger.
//What?! Kakarot and that annoying woman...?//
He stared into her eyes like a madman, his tiny pupils quivering.
And suddenly his face began to get closer to hers.
And since Bulma kept her eyes open and saw how he approached her, HER felt very queasy. And hot.
Vegeta flexed his arm as he leaned towards her. His staring eyes rested in hers. Bulma's hackles stood up as she felt his breath on her face. Her eyelids fluttered and she just waited for their lips to touch at any moment. She already opened her mouth a tiny gap.
But Vegeta didn't kiss her. Instead he said something to her. And she could really feel it now, his hot breath on her lips.
"Don't you ever put me on the same level as Kakarot again," he warned her in a dangerously calm tone. "Got it?"
His voice gave Bulma goosebumps, but she didn't want to let on how much he frightened her at that moment. She held his almost hateful gaze and then had to swallow. But she didn't reply.
Eventually Vegeta leaned back from her and took his hand off the wall as well. Then he turned and walked away without giving her another look.
Bulma stood with her back to the wall, her arms hanging loosely at her sides. She let out a quiet breath as he disappeared around the corner. And when she looked to the side, she noticed the imprint of his fist in the metal wall! The spot was completely dented!
And in that moment, she seriously wondered if teasing this guy was such a good idea... She reached up and lightly nibbled her thumbnail, looking toward the door. Because somehow it was exactly what she liked about it. The allure of this teasing.
