Here are some interesting facts about Sweden (take it with a grain of salt for I've just read them online):🤴🏼 Sweden is a constitutional monarchy — with the King as its highest ruler.
🧕🏼 The country is quite diverse thanks to its high population of immigrants.
💬 While Swedish is the official language, they can speak English, Finnish and other tongues.
😌 The Swedes are known to be reserved and humble.
🏫 From ages 6 to 17, schools are free.
💰 With the exception of state universities, colleges are also free (no tuition fees) and you get entry grants of SEK 1,197 per week (US$122.85!).
👩🏽🤝👨🏼 Both parents are given 480 days of parental leave until their children are eight years old.
🌄 Winters are very brutal and offer longer dark hours while summers have nice weather and longer daylight hours.
🏃🏼♀️ Orienteering is a popular sport in Sweden. It's basically getting to various spots on the map via mountain bicycles/foot/skiing.
🎵 The country brought us famous musicians like Zara Larsson, Avicii and ABBA.
🇸🇪🧆 Swedish meatballs is the country's national dish. This explains why they're also served in IKEA stores.
🧨 Among the things invented in Sweden are life-saving drones, seatbelts, zippers and ... dynamites.
Do's and Dont's
🙅🏼 Avoid throwing any snide remarks towards other racial groups and genders. Sweden is an open country where everybody must be treated equally.
↔️ Social distancing is key. A lot of Swedes become uncomfortable when a stranger rubs against them.
☕️ Fikka (a coffee-and-biscuits session) is very important so you can't just say no to this. They just want to chat with you, thats all!
