Chapter Two: Bells

☇☯☇☯☇☯☇☯☇☯☇☯☇☯

Right at the crack of dawn (five in the morning), Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke waited for Kakashi and the twins.

It was an hour and a half past the initial meeting time and Rin was now in view for the three, her brother being dragged by the back of his collar.

Once she made it over to them the group stared at the still sleeping Ren. "He's not a morning person." Rin informed the group, having answer their unspoken question in a flat tone.

The group waited for about five to six hours before Kakashi had finally arrived.

"YOU'RE LATE!" Sakura and Naruto shouted.

"Well, a black cat crossed my path, you see." Kakashi said sheepishly, the group glared.

Kakashi awkwardly cleared his throat. "Ahem! Oh well..." he walked over to one of the tree stumps and placed a clock on top of one, setting an alarm. "Okay, it's set for twelve o'clock!"

He then held up one bell on a red thread. "Today's assignment is to take this bell away from me by noon." He gave the bell a little shake. "Those who can't do it won't get lunch. They'll be tied to that and I'll eat my lunch before your eyes." Kakashi pointed to the stumps used for shooting/throwing practice.

So that was the point...

...for us not to eat breakfast...

Sasuke and Sakura thought as the three held hungry expressions. Rin was busy trying to wake her brother up.

"Ren-nii, wake up. Hatake-sensei is here now, Ren-nii..." she shook his shoulder but he didn't even flinch.

Becoming irritated Rin stood up and held the hand sign for the tiger. "Rin Style: Waking Falls."

A sudden gush of water fell from the sky, as if a bucket full of water was dumped, drenching Ren in cold water. "THAT'S COLD! DAMNIT RIN!"

The black haired girl simply shrugged. "You wouldn't wake up. So I woke you up." Was all she said.

The two then turned back to the instructions they had been ignoring. "...and will return to the academy. Who knows, maybe none of you can get the bell. You can use shuriken. You won't be able to take the bell unless you come at me with the intention of killing me."

"But that's dangerous, sensei!" Sakura shouted.

"Y-yeah, you couldn't even dodge the chalkeraser." Naruto laughed nervously.

"In this world, those who aren't skilled enough tend to complain more." Ren spoke as he stood up from the ground, ringing out his clothes and hair.

"And besides, do you really think you stand a chance going against a Jōnin unarmed? How naive." Rin added in.

"Well, let's just ignore the loser." Kakashi's comment gained a glare from Naruto. "Begin when I give the 'ready go' signal."

Before Kakashi could say the actual 'go' Naruto charged at him with a kunai.

Within a blink of an eye, Kakashi was behind Naruto; holding his own kunai to the back if his neck.

"Don't be so hasty. I didn't say to start, yet." Kakashi let go of Naruto as Sasuke and Sakura took two steps back.

No way...! I didn't see him move at all. Sakura thought to herself in amazement.

Sasuke narrowed his Uchiha onyx eyes. So this is a Jōnin.
