"No, g-give me a minute." Harry said.
They were sat all alone in one of the rooms of the Late Night Hotel, upon Harry's request to go somewhere alone and quiet. He was just uncontrollably crying now, and Louis didn't think it was his place to comfort him or even soothe him by rubbing his back. Who even was he, after all?
Louis just sat on one of the chairs in the room, helplessly watching Harry sob into his hands and then hurriedly wiping all the tears away, as if afraid that someone would see. He desperately wanted to go sit next to Harry, wipe all his tears and hug him as tightly as possible. After all, he was probably the reason why Harry was crying like crazy. The one ex-boyfriend, seeing whom was traumatic as fuck. He couldn't really blame Harry.
After a minute or so, he thought, fuck it. He was going to go pacify Harry either way. He walked towards Harry, sat right next to him and took Harry's hands off his face. Harry looked at him with teary wide eyes. "What's up? Why're you crying? I'm sorry I came in your way, I swear it wasn't my intention." Louis said.
"What the fuck do you mean by you came in my way? I was the one who came walking towards you." Harry muttered. "I don't know, I think it's my fault. I did try to not see or meet you although I knew you were within a call's reach." Louis said, pulling his lips into a forced tight line.
"W-Why?" He asked. Louis gulped. Should he actually reveal why? Did Harry not remember or just wanted him to say it out loud? Before he could say anything, Harry nodded saying, "Oh, yeah. Sorry. I told you that, right? I'm sorry I met you, I think."
"No, no, Harry. I've wanted to meet you so so bad. Really, I swear. But I didn't want to break any more promises I made to you. I've already broken quite a lot of them." Louis admitted. Harry sniffled and simply nodded, "I've broken many, many of them too. All of whatever is happening is all my fault, I know. I'm so so sorry for hurting you. I beat myself for that every single day I wake up."
"It's fine. Don't beat yourself for that. I underestimated I wasn't who or what you wanted. It's my fault, too." Louis said. Harry took Louis' hands in his own and said, "No. You were (are) all I ever wanted. I swear. You were my only hope in life. And... I let you go. I hate me for that. But I'm glad you've found someone else who's great for you, of course, and you're doing good, I think. I'm very, very proud of you."
Louis didn't know what to say about that. Found someone else who's great for him? Not the right sentence, apparently. But he didn't say anything at all. He just nodded and smiled. There was something so weirdly satisfying and calming about sitting with Harry after all these years. God, he looked so beautiful. Except his eyes, every inch of him was different, in a very good way. Everything had changed outside, clearly, but he, at least, felt the same inside.
They sat staring at each other for a while, Louis' hands in Harry's. Harry forcibly looked away after a while, and looked down at Louis' hands in his own. "I lo-like your hair. Very much, I think. It suits you." Louis said, choosing his words very carefully. Harry smiled the smile which Louis liked to believe, for his sake, was solely reserved for him.
"Thanks. I thought you'd find me revolting, with all the tattoos and long ha-oh my God, Louis what is this-" Harry asked, fine traces of panic in his voice. Louis followed his line of sight to his very own arms. Wait, what was Harry talking about?
When Harry pushed back Louis' shirt's sleeve a bit back, Louis understood what he was referring to and pulled his hands away saying, "Don't." He didn't need anyone to know about this. Liam knew about it, but he wasn't here and wouldn't tell anyone about it anyway. Louis walked to the chair where he had earlier been sitting and wore back his suit jacket that had been resting on the chair.
