She did it.

She ran out the door screaming into the rain. Her blonde curls glistened under the light from the street lamps as her pale skin shined. She let it wash over her rinsing away the pain and frustration from the past four years, hell from the past in general. She had poured her heart and soul into the relationship all for him to just throw it away with one picture.

He knew it would destroy them. How could someone say they love you but still play these games like he's still a 16-year-old boy?

He was so passionate at night showing her endless love and devotion but during the day he was no better than a teenage boy in a flimsy relationship. He had never really grown out of that faze. At first, she thought it was so hot and funny when they met in college but now. She was done.

She told him if he ever saw that slutty costar outside of their work again it was over. After what they went through just a few weeks ago involving her, how could he do this? He said she was wrong and that he never had feelings for anyone else. That she was just a bitchy costar and there was nothing outside of the film between them. He said it was all in her head just her anxiety playing with her mind but she knew. Something inside told her there had to be more for this to happen.

She wouldn't be treated this way and as she trudged through the wet streets of New York City, rain soaking every inch of her hair and clothes, with her bags in hand and a plane ticket in her purse she swore no person would hold the power he had over her ever again. She left damaged but not broken she left for the one place she hoped she would feel whole. Home, Oklahoma.

10 years later

"Hey, Emmalynn! How are y'all doing? Your mom and dad okay?"

"Hi Kate, Yes they are doing great. They just got home from their trip to Costa Rica. Mom had a ministry trip and she dragged Dad along hoping for some romance time too." she chuckled.

She was sitting in her office at the little county museum she loved so much. She had a lot to fix up when she first got home. She started as a docent (tour guide) but when the original curator passed she took over per his wishes. He adored her, she had a passion for the history of her area, and she was so knowledgeable having gone to school at Rutgers and working at the American Museum of Natural History. He couldn't understand why she gave that all up to come home but he was thrilled he could leave the tiny museum in such capable hands.

"Awe that's so sweet. I'm glad that you still have them too. I'm sure they are just so thrilled to have you at home" Kate said through the phone as they chatted.

"Yes, I love being here. Well, I'll have the extra exhibit room all ready for your art show next Saturday Mrs. Vernon. Feel free to come Friday night after 5 to work on setup and if you think of anything else just give me a call. I can't wait for the public to see your wonderful cat art exhibit."

"Yes, thank you Ms. Emmalynn I'm sure you'll do a wonderful job with it. Bye-bye now."

"Bye bye"

She knew if she didn't cut her off she'd get asked about all the details of her life and that was something she was tired of explaining. Everyone wanted to ask about Alexander as soon as she got home. Her parents tried to explain to everyone that it didn't work out but she couldn't hide from the community forever. They were a high-profile couple, after all, especially, in her small town. Everyone thought they would be married after their long relationship. She had even brought her parents out to meet him a few times but things changed that day she left him and came home. She cut off all contact and she never explained that to anyone except her parents. Her mom, for her part, tried to persuade her to hear him out "Maybe it was nothing sweetheart. I sense there is something more here that you aren't seeing." But Emmalynn wouldn't hear it. She was done and they needed to understand that.
