It had been a while since the board had met to discuss the upcoming events at the museum and Emmalynn was very anxious. They hadn't all been in favor of the film crew utilizing the facilities and really being in Duncan at all.

Many felt that it was an intrusion on the town and their way of life. Mrs. Johnston even suggested that they would make the town look backwards and that it would portray them all as ignorant fools. "You know how those liberal Hollywood types are dear. They can't be trusted to see the godly, good people we are here, correctly. Their view is so skewed by all that media and smog there in California." She and a few others had said.

Emmalynn knew those views all too well. When she had first announced she was going to college out of state, hell out of the southern part of the U.S., many members of her parents' congregation threw a fit. They said she would be corrupted by it all. "Heaven help her poor parents."

I wonder if that might be part of why Alex never came to visit with her. They were together for 4 years 2 as friends then 2 as lovers and not once did he visit Oklahoma with her.

"Em I'm so sorry, I want to go this year but I have to be with my mom for the holidays or she will lose it" That was the excuse the first two years and she understood. His mom only had him and that is what mattered the most to him.

"I have to shoot over Thanksgiving so I can't go but I don't want you to miss time with your family okay, and we can Skype every day." That was usually the reason the last two years which she knew was very true. His filming schedule was crazy but they knew he had to do it to build his career and she had missed some important events for him as well with museum business or before that with school stuff.  Maybe it wasn't that he didn't want to see her home.

These were the thoughts going through her mind while she setup for the board in the large conference/exhibit hall in the small museum. The long table was set with notebooks filled with numbers and charts showing the earnings and number of guests over the last few months. There was even a projected section with numbers from the film crew and how much the film would pay the museum to let them film

"There's no way they can say no." All the docents had told Emmalynn.

"I hope they are right" she said as she heard the door chime at the front and the docent, Eunice, welcome in the board members.

There was Mrs. Johnston the secretary, Mr. Franks the Board President, Madilyn Jenks the Vice President, Her father Rev. Reader was a member, Laura Peps the Treasurer, Mrs. Rodgers another member and leader of the School Board in town as well. They all gathered and greeted one another then prepared for the meeting.

As they sat down and began discussing Emmalynn's phone chimed.

Em is that important meeting starting yet?

Yes

Shit. Stall them for a minute we're on the way.

What?! No! You do not need to come. Who even told you to come? WTF?

Sorry the director and the executive producer  think it's best if we convince them and your dad told me we should come.

Just then, Alex and two other gentlemen hurried in with the docent behind them looking flustered.

"I'm sorry Ms. Reader but these gentlemen insisted they come discuss the matter of the film with the Board."

"It's alright thank you."Emmalynn nodded to Eunice, who quickly left the meeting.

"Members of the Board excuse the interruption. I'm Alexander Nectarina and these gentleman are Director John Faver and Executive Producer Lawrence Monk. We would like to discuss the film with you and how with your blessing of filming in this fine facility it will put you on the map and bring much needed revenue and visitors. This film has real potential to be a classic and.."
