You'd grown up with Katniss and Gale in District 12, so you were close to the both of them. You felt closer to Katniss, though, mostly due to your growing attraction to her.

You never told her how you felt, sure that it would make things awkward between the two of you. Not that it wasn't awkward already, due to your feelings.

~

You were out hunting with Katniss in the woods. You'd spotted a squirrel and were about to shoot an arrow at it, when a rock came out of no where and landed next to squirrel, scaring it away.

You sighed in exasperation, turning around to see where the rock had come from, only to see Katniss standing there with a small smile on her face.

"Katniss," you said, trying to sound annoyed with her, although it was hard. "That could've been my first animal this month."

You weren't that great at hunting. Not compared to Katniss or Gale, anyways.

Katniss's smile grew as she walked towards you, taking your arm in hers before starting to walk deeper into the woods.

"Come on, I'll shoot you a squirrel."

You walked with her and you both stopped when you saw run across the forest floor.

Katniss pulled out an arrow and placed it against her bow before drawing it. She let go and you watched the arrow go flying, hitting the squirrel directly in the centre.

You both walked over the where the squirrel lay and Katniss picked it up, pulling the arrow out before handing it to you. "Here."

"Show off," you teased.

She grinned, before walking off to search for another animal.

By the time you had finished hunting, it was getting dark. Katniss had managed to shoot a few squirrels, while you only had the one Katniss had shot for you earlier.

The moon was high in the sky, lighting the way back to the fence that separated the woods from District 12.

"Good job today," Katniss said.

You looked at her. "I didn't shoot anything."

"But you tried, and that counts for something."

"I suppose you're right."

You continued walking until you reached the fence. You slipped through the hole in the fence and waited for Katniss.

Once you were both through the fence, you walked into the village together.

Katniss walked you to your house, like she always did, but something about tonight felt different. The air felt charged with an energy that wasn't there other nights.

You both said goodbye to each other, and you excepted Katniss to leave like usual, and we're surprised when she didn't.

You both lingered there in front of your house, until Katniss reached out and touched your cheek. You saw her lean in and closed your eyes. Your lips met, moving against each other briefly before you pulled away, a smile on your lips.

"I wasn't expecting that," you said."

Katniss smiled back. "Neither was I, to be honest."

You reached for her hand and gave it a squeeze, before letting go and opening the door to your house.

"I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Of course."

You went inside your house and closed the door behind you, surprised when you saw your little sister peeking through the window.

"That was so cute," she gushed.

"Aren't you supposed to be in bed?" You asked, reaching down to ruffle her hair.

"I was going to bed," she said defensively. "I just heard you and Katniss coming back and wanted to see you before I went. I've been hoping you guys would get together," she said, a grin on her face.

"Okay, that's enough," you said, though you were smiling. "It's time for you to get to bed."

"Okay," she sighed.

You tucked her into bed, then went to your own room. You lay in your bed and tried to sleep, only your thoughts kept replaying you and Katniss kissing. You couldn't wait to see her tomorrow and find out where your relationship would go.
