I woke up and looked beside me for Peeta, only to find that he wasn't there. He had probably just gone to his old home to visit his family again, like he did every week now ever since we moved to the Victor's Village.

I didn't know why he still went to visit his mother, when she had treated him so badly before the games. I knew she was only nice to him now so he would keep giving them food. Not like he would stop giving them food if she was mean to him now, anyways.

I got out of the bed and went downstairs to the kitchen. There were some pancakes on the table and next to it was a folded piece of paper. I picked it up and unfolded it, then started to read it.

Good morning, sweetheart. I'm just visiting my family, but you probably already know that since I do it every week. I left some pancakes on the table and you can come over later if you want.

-Love, Peeta

I put the note back down on the table and put a few of the pancakes on a plate. The pancakes were still warm, meaning that he had probably just made them a little while ago.

I finished eating and went upstairs. I put on a pair of jeans, a tank top, and a thin hoodie overtop.

I went back downstairs, put on my shoes, and started walking to Peeta's house.

When I reached the house, I went up to the door and knocked. The door opened quickly, revealing a woman who I guessed was Peeta's mother. At her feet was a boy hugging her legs who I guessed was one of Peeta's younger brothers.

"Hi, Peeta told me to meet him here." Is he here?"

"Who are you?"

"Oh, sorry. I'm Allie, Peeta's girlfriend."

"Oh." She immediately smiled, as if she wanted to impress me or something. She moved to the side to let me through. "Come on in," She said in a overly friendly voice.

I walked past her and through the door. I heard Peeta laughing and walked through the bakery to the main part of the house.

Peeta was sitting on the floor with who I assumed were his father and brothers.

He looked up at me when he heard me come in and smiled. "Come and sit with us."

I went over and sat down on the ground next to Peeta. I felt Peeta's hand close around mine and he intertwined my fingers with his.

"And who is this, son? I don't think you've introduced us to her before.

"This is Allie, my girlfriend. We've been dating since after the games."

"Well, it's nice to meet you Allie. I'm Peeta's father. Though I suppose you already knew that since from the amount of times Peeta has talked to us about you, I suppose he has told you that much about us as well."

"Yeah, I did. Peeta talks about you all the time."

"Well, you're welcome here anytime."

"Thank you." But I looked over to the corner of the room where Peeta's mother was standing and doubted that I would ever want to come back here again. Her arms crossed across her chest and she was glaring at me.

I turned away from her and nudged Peeta, causing him to stop mid-sentence and look over at me. "What is it?"

"Do you think we can we go now?"

"Why? What's wrong?"

I nodded in the direction of the corner of the room where Peeta's mother was.

He looked over, then turned back, his face looking more annoyed than before. "We're going to be leaving now," Peeta said, standing up and I stood up after him.

"Why are you leaving?" His father asked.

Peeta just sent an accusatory glance at his mother before saying "We just have some things to do. I'll be back next week. Don't worry."

"OK, well I guess that's fine. We'll see you soon and thanks for the food."

Peeta gave a small smile to his father. "It's no problem."

Soon, we were outside the house and were walking back to our own house.

Peeta was walking a little farther ahead of me and I heard him mumbling something and ran up to him in an attempt to hear what he was saying. "What did you say?"

"I was just saying that I hate how she always ruins things like that."

"It's not her fault she doesn't like me."

"She's like that with everyone though." He paused before saying "And it isn't your fault either. She shouldn't have treated you like that."

"It's fine, really."

"No, it's not fine." He stopped talking since we had reached the house. "Go on inside and get a jacket, OK?"

"A jacket? Why?"

"It's a surprise. Just go in and get one on. Then meet me at the lake, OK?"

I shrugged. "OK."

I went inside the house and got a jacket from off the hook that was right behind the door. I put it on, then went outside. I slipped through the fence and started walking through the woods and to the lake.

Peeta was sitting on the sand on a blanket and I ran up to him. "Hey, what are we doing here?"

He raised the basket he was holding and said "We're having a picnic and looking at the stars."

I laughed and sat down next to him. "Well, that's not cheesy at all."

He smiled and wrapped an arm around me. "Come on, you'll love it. I know you love the stars."

"Doesn't change the fact that it's still a little cheesy."

He just smiled and we moved closer to the water's edge, feeling the water rushing over our feet.

Peeta opened the picnic basket and started taking out all the food and laying it out on the blanket.

We ate the food, then just lay back on the blanket covered ground to look at the stars.

He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and I lay my head on his chest. He kissed the top of my head. "I love you," He whispered.

"I love you too," I whispered back. We lay there in silence except for the sounds of the birds in the woods behind us and looked up at the stars until we decided to go back to the house.
