HERE WE ARE. 1
1-1 SUMMER RAIN
EP 5

Not a single word has been said for the past 10 minutes between the brunette and the clearly just recovered formerly bleeding urchin head as they simply stared blankly at each other. One could've mistaken such a sight as being straight out of a canvas but that was not the case since he was resting in his room.
However, there was clearly an air of disappointment and disbelief radiating from the tired younger student towards the older and more experienced girl. To which the tension seemed to increase with every second they continued to lock eyes at each other.
"Why... didn't you tell me?" Finally breaking the ambience albeit slowly. The tone, although rough, communicated a wounded sense of self. "I thought we agreed not to," he muttered, "hide anything anymore."
Looking down at her clasped hands instead of him, "You would immediately ghost me if I told you sooner."
"And then I would just accept that fact and move on," hissing back. "It's not like these things last long. You act worse than me."
Seeing how she tightened the grip on her own hands, he had another gut feeling. One that he absolutely wished wasn't true as he was fearful of asking for the answer in case it was the truth. A possible truth he should've seen in hindsight.
Hastily about to get out of his comforter, "You're actually e--"
"Exactly why I didn't tell you," preventing him from continuing to get up and he could only ask;
"Yuri, why didn't you tell me sooner?" Grabbing onto her shoulders tightly as he questioned her. "Was it last y--"
"No," she interrupted to dampen his raising voice. "Don't worry too much, Megumi," slowly taking off one of his hands from her shoulder.
"But-"
"You can ask Nori-kun about it all after the Goodwill Event," she told him. "Don't worry about that part, we'll announce it soon enough." Patting his head with her free hand.
"That hurts..."
"Sorry..."

"Megumi!" Cheerfully turning up at their house. The 7 year old boy grew annoyed by the fact that the pale haired man showed up once more. However, he didn't expect to see someone who wore a white shirt and pants, thinking they were pyjamas. Someone about the same height as his half-sister.
"Meet Yuri-chan! She'll be staying with you two for the weekend!"
"Why? Did her parents also run off?"
The girl only nodded her head without any indication of remorse or being offended. She was practically a shell of whoever she might've been, which was further emphasised by how pale she looked. Her eyes were dull brown.
Maybe her heart was gone. Maybe she gave up on being loved. Maybe she was just like him.
"Is it okay for me to refer to you as Yuri-chan?" Tsumiki asked while she prepared dinner. Looking over her shoulder, she saw the pale girl nod her head. "Omelette rice is fine right?"
As the days went beyond that weekend, she became someone who visited them weekly. Sometimes in yellow instead and sometimes she simply slept for most of the day in their guest room. Slowly becoming a part of the small family made up of children without any caring parents around them. But the eldest filled that role instead.
