Chapter 2

Kyoshi Island Pt 2

The warriors took the group still to their village where they were tied to a post still blindfolded. Nikomi squirms around in her bonds.

" You 4 have some explaining to do" A man's voice snapped

" And if you don't answer all our questions, we're throwing you back in the water with the Unagi" A woman's voice threatened.

" Show yourselves, cowards!" Sokka yelled, trying to act tough.

The blindfolds were removed and the group saw that the warriors that ambushed them were in fact, female warriors.

" Who are you?" Sokka demanded, " Where are the men that ambushed us?"

" There were no men. We ambushed you," The leader snapped " Now tell us, who are you, what are you doing here,"

" Wait a second. There's no way a bunch of girls took us down" Sokka scoffed.

" A bunch of girls huh?" The leader grabbed a hold of Sokka's coat threateningly " The Unagi is going to eat well tonight"

" No, don't hurt him! He didn't mean it! My brother's just an idiot sometimes" Katara interjected and the leader let go of Sokka.

" It's my fault," Aang spoke up" I'm sorry we came here. I wanted to ride the elephant koi."

" How do we know you're not Fire Nation spies?" The man accused, " Kyoshi stayed out of the war so far. And we intend to keep it that way."

" This island is named for Kyoshi? I know Kyoshi." Aang smiled

"Ha! How could you possibly know her? Avatar Kyoshi was born here 400 years ago, she's been dead for centuries." The man scoffed, pointing up to the statue the group was tied to.

" I know her because I'm the Avatar" Aang revealed.

" That's impossible." The warrior leader snapped, " The last Avatar was an air bender who disappeared 100 years ago."

" That's me," Aang smiled again.

" Throw the imposters to the Unagi!" The man ordered and the warriors opened their fans and approached threateningly.

" Aang, do some air bending" Nikomi muttered beside him.

Aang quickly bent himself into the air, breaking the ropes on the Kyoshi statue and floating gently to the ground. The villagers all gasped in awe.

" It's true. You are the Avatar" The man gasped

" Now, check this out" Aang got out his marbles and did the same trick he did earlier with them. The villagers all cheered at the sight of air bending and the warriors came to release Sokka, Katara and Nikomi from the ropes. The group were then led through the village to get some food and proper rest.

The next morning, the group were seated at a table full of sweet treats and desserts. Sokka, however, was in the corner sulking, not happy about being ambushed by the Kyoshi Warriors the previous day.

" All right! Dessert for breakfast!" Aang cheered, digging into the food " These people sure know how to treat an Avatar"

Aang began to stuff his face with as many of the delicious treats as he could.

" Komi, you've got to try these," Aang said, holding out a pastry to the water bender.

She smiled and eat the pastry held out to her. she finished the pastry and the got up from her seet

" I'm going for a walk," She announced " I want to see this place before we have to leave,"

" Okay,"

Nikomi wandered around for a little bit before eventually coming across a small stream with a bridge connecting the two side. She looked out at the water and sighed

She missed her family, her entire village.

She didn't regret joining the avatar on his quest to find a water bending teacher, she needed a teacher too, but she was regretting not saying goodbye to her family.

Nikomi sighed again leaning on the railing closing her eyes as she felt gulit

The sound of girls screeching brought Nikomi out of her thoughts and she looked up, as Aang ran past at full speed.Seconds later, a horde of screaming girls chased after him, forcing Nikomi up onto the railing so she wouldn't be trampled by the mob.

A few seconds later, Aang ran back the same way, his fangirls running after him.This time the girls pushed Nikomi off the bridge into the water below.

"Nikomi!Are you okay?" Aang asked, looking over the bridge to look down at the girl.

Nikomi was about to reply but the screaming girls came back from each side, blocking the Avatar in.Aang was forced to jump and cling to a ball of air to evade them. +

Nikomi sighed and began to water bend the water out of her soaking clothing.  Aang fell back down and was swallowed up by the mass of screaming girls, as Nikomi walked away looking for Katara.

Nikomi wandered around the island a little more when she eventually came across a small cabin. She peered around the door.

Inside, the Kyoshi Warriors were busy practicing their technique. Nikomi watched in awe at their graceful and clean movements. The girls finished their routine and began conversing amongst themselves.

One of the girls had spotted Nikomi peeking around the door

"Hey! You there, what are you doing here?"

"Oh I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude... Its just...well I was just wandering around and then I saw you practicing and I thought it looked cool with your fans and... I can leave if i'm being rude" She stuttered.

"If you wanted to watch us, you could've just asked," The leader stated.

"Really?" Nikomi, looked shocked

" Sure, I don't see why not" The girl shrugged "I'm Suki by the way,"

" Nice to meet you Suki, I'm Nikomi," the water bender smiled

Nikomi then sat down on the floor and looked up at the to warriors as they continued their practicing.
