"Mew, if you keep pacing back and forth like that, you'll worry a hole into the floor." Bright said, gazing at the anxious male.

"We've waited here everyday since we put those posters up and no one has come to apply." Mew stopped pacing, looking at his bestfriend, "How do you expect me to not worry?"

"It's still pretty early in the day. A lot of people are probably still in class, Mew." Bright said, glancing at the clock.

'Today's the last day to turn in any applications...' Mew thought, biting his finger nails in worry.

   "Mewww krubbbb..." Bright whined.

"I know.. I know.. I just hate waiting around.." Mew sighed and looked up at his friend, "I'm sure there are at least a few people who don't have classes today. Maybe we can find some people working out at the gym!"

He started pacing back and forth, "And if we see anyone at the pool, we can try to get them to join. Swimming with friends is way more fun than just doing laps alone, right?"

He stopped pacing and smiled up at his idea, "If we bring the applications with us, we can even get them to sign up there and then!"

Bright shook his head and walked towards his anxious friend, "I don't think that's a very good idea, Mew.. It'd feel like we were forcing them to join." He squeezed Mew's arm to make him meet his eyes, "You want people to join because they want to, not because they were asked to, right?"

Mew looked down at that and sighed, "Yeah, you're right, Bright.."

'Bright is right though, The second block of classes just started.' Mew thought, looking out the window.

"I guess most people are still getting adjusted to their classes. It makes sense that clubs aren't the first thing on their mind." Mew mused.

"Exactly!" Bright exclaimed. "Speaking of which, don't you have classes today?"

"Oh no, I managed to schedule most of my classes for the beginning of the week." Mew grinned, "That way, I have a long weekend and more time to dedicate to the club."

Bright nodded his head, "Well, that just means we have to make sure that our recruitment efforts don't go to waste." He looked at the clock and then out the window, "Just a little longer and it'll be lunch time for a lot of people. Hopefully a couple of people will drop by then!"

Time seems to have slowed down. Mew slouched over a desk and contemplated taking a nap. Whatever hope they had is being sucked out of them the longer they wait.

Bright sighed, "I wonder if we're the only ones here left that care about swimming." He looked up at Mew and smiled sadly, "I mean, it's not like our school is known for our club. Maybe this was just meant to be the end of it."

Mew frowned at his best friend's words, "Don't think like that! I'm not giving up, and neither should you. What would our old president say if he saw you like that?"

He walked up to Bright and ruffled his hair, "We posted those fliers everywhere and I'm sure nearly everyone's seen them by now. We just have to trust that there's interest. There will be new members. I'm sure of it."

Bright grinned up at his friend, "Thanks, Mew. I'm glad someone like you is in charge of the club." He then looked at the clock and then out the window.
