A new year. A new semester.

As Mew walks through the University courtyard, preparing for his classes, someone calls out to him.

"Mew! I thought that was you!" A young guy, waved at him from the other side of the courtyard.

"Hey, Bright. Did you have a good break?" Mew asked, watching the young guy run upto him excitedly.

"Yeah, we went to see some family over the holidays." Bright said side hugging Mew as a form of greeting.

"Oh, how fun! Did anything crazy happened on your trip?" Mew asked, wiggling his eyebrows in a teasing manner.

Bright rolled his eyes, "Only my cousin falling through the ceiling when he was trying to fix something in the attic."

Mew let out a surprised laugh. "What?! The one that you were crushing over last year?! You've got to tell me all about that over lunch or something."

Bright smiled cheekily, "I'll tell you as long as you're buying!"

Mew laughed, ruffling Bright's hair, "Deal." They smiled at each other knowingly. "By the way, did you get all the classes you wanted? They put me on a waiting list for one of mine."

"I got everything I needed, one of the classes is super early in the morning.." Bright whined. "I'm really not looking forward to that."

"Ughh, same." Mew grunted. "One of the classes I need for my major got moved to the earliest time slot."

Bright looks like he's about to reply but stops. He points behind Mew, and Mew turned around.

Mew looked down at a short lady at her late 30s, with her thick framed glasses, looking up at him. "Mew, I presume?"

Mew recognised her as their school administrator. "That's me. Is there something wrong with the classes I registered for?" He asked, internally panicking if he messed up his schedule at last minute.

The lady smiled, assuring him. "Oh, it's nothing like that. This is in regards to your extracurricular activities. Our records show that you and Mr. Bright here are the only members of the swimming club, is that correct?"

Mew and Bright looked at each other. "That's right." Bright stood beside Mew. "A bunch of fourth-years graduated early last semester, and then we had a few people quit because of  their school workload."

The lady adjusted her glasses and nodded, "I see, that's very unfortunate to hear." She sighed, "I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news.." The administrator looks as if she doesn't want to break the news to us.

Mew looked at Bright in worry and looked back at the lady, "It really can't be that bad, right? Did I do something wrong? Was it because of our poor records last semester?"

The lady shook her head, "No, it's not about that. However, the board does look forward to better results this year."

Mew nodded his head, "Of course! We'll work even harder than before! Then, did our previous captain mess up some of the paperwork? I was there when he filled it out, so I don't think he missed anything.."

"No, all the paperwork was correctly submitted." The lady cuts off Mew's rambling. "It's the remaining members that we have to talk about. Unfortunately, due to our guidelines, we will have to disband your swimming club."
