❝Miles freaking Bailey is here?❞

trigger warning: mention of blood

"Didn't you say that you're stuck at Maximo Health Services all day?"

"Yep. But this is so fun. It's like I'm really part of the crew," Eloise said from the other line. Bridget can already feel her enthusiasm.

"Yeah yeah. Let's talk about that later, my finger is about to detach from my hand. See you there."

Bridget hung up her phone and got out of her shiny car. She walked to the entrance of the hospital, not forgetting to let her heels clack as loud as possible.

"My finger got stuck in a sewing machine," She stated, showing her injured finger covered with blood and tissue paper to the nurse at the reception. Bridget removed her sunglasses and hooked them on her collar.

"This way, please." The nurse leads her to an empty hospital bed in the ER.

The curtains slide away, revealing the doctor that would treat her injured finger.

"I hurt my finger from a sewing machine." The doctor did his job and threw away the used gloves after the procedure.

"Nurse Situ, please wrap this up. Ms. Carlisle, please come back next week for your wounds." The doctor left and the said nurse took over.

The nurse quietly cleaned everything up while Bridget stared at her treated finger. Her eyes shifted to the hunk in front of her. She hopped off the bed and dusted her shirt before taking her exit.

"Excuse me." She turned around, nervous. So many questions popped up inside her mind in a short amount of time.

Why would this handsome nurse stop her from leaving?

Did he find her cute and decided to ask for her number?

"You left your bag," He stated and pointed to her designer bag that sat on the bed.

"Uh, thanks." Bridget was commonly known for her confidence and strong personality. She always used her voice when she needed to. But she was oddly lost for words. This stranger was capable of making the Bridget Carlisle shy.

The nurse gave her a quick smile before leaving the area.

"Thank you for your time, Nurse Terrence Situ," She quietly said as she recalled the name written on his I.D

"Bridget!" She turned around and saw Eloise. "The bacon is here!"

"Oh shut up Bridge!"

"So, anything interesting to tell me?"

____

"Miles freaking Bailey is here?" Bridget exclaimed as she pulled up her underwear.

"Please be quiet."

"Oh shut up. We're the only ones here." The two got out of their respective stalls to wash their hands.

"Yep and I think he's mad at me."

"I figured. You literally lead this guy on all throughout high school," Bridget confidently blurted.

"I did not," Eloise innocently stated. "Honey, I may be your best friend, but I'm not going to lie to you. You mentally tortured this boy."

Eloise was speechless because Bridget was correct. Although she thought everything was fixed. She thought that he had forgotten everything and didn't leave a grudge. But it looks like it was just her.

Their families lived in the same neighborhood which lead the two to meet often besides seeing each other at school. He appeared to be a playboy, which is how Eloise initially perceived him. Miles, though, was the whole opposite. He was kind to others and surprisingly never had a girlfriend. He usually kept to himself, which gave off a respectable impression. Although they were not very close, they always conversed when they met. Not until Miles decided to be honest with his feelings.

She recalled saying yes to a dinner date with him once back in high school and leaving him waiting for nothing. She also remembered going with some random guy she doesn't even like to prom just to make Miles annoyed even though he asked her first. She did tons of terrible things to him and he never got mad at her. Instead, he continued to like her. The worst part is, that she never rejected him.

Maybe she is a horrible person. A terrible person who leads people on.

Eloise's long-awaited experience with Director Love was all shattered all because of her history with Miles Bailey. It was partially Bridget's fault for bringing it up. She envisioned herself enjoying her internship, but she got too busy juggling her intern-related tasks and avoiding Miles. She spent her two weeks of internship doing that. The hospital is incredibly huge and it can be mistaken for a hotel. But she always somehow bumps into him no matter what she does.

"You should be ashamed of yourself, Mr. Bailey." Miles stared at the man full of anger's necktie as he spat words that can't hurt Miles anymore.

He got so used to it that it doesn't have an effect on him anymore. It's like other people's words are just bouncing away. Miles was drained. He's already this exhausted, and he's still not even a doctor.

Miles did not dilly dally any longer and left the hospital after his shift. He allowed his feet to take him anywhere. He somehow ended up at one of the university's gazebos. He rested his head on the stone table and let his emotions overtake him.

He didn't even realize that he was crying when he tasted something salty. He was just so tired. He never even wanted this, but here he issuffering. Miles was getting into the mood, ready to sob when he heard a scream.

He quickly wiped his tears and looked around. An unknown source of light blinded his eyes.

"Miles? Is that you?"
