❝I know about the two of you.❞

"I thought you were not going to show up," Bridget stated as she shifted her body facing him.

"Well, here I am."

She was struck by how different he looked. The pair of glasses that he regularly wears is not in sight. He wore a white turtle neck with black slacks. His beige coat, which was initially draped over his arm, is now resting on the chair's backrest.

"Have you been waiting?" Terrence asked as he leaned in to make his words more audible.

"I just got here."

"He's up." Terrence's hands collided together as a man with a beard enters the stage. The man adjusted the microphone at a comfortable height for him. Judging by the number of cheers she heard, Bridget assumed that this man was a regular performer in this pub.

"Thank you so much for coming tonight. I will be sharing a poem with all of you."

Bridget tried her best to digest the poem that was being recited. But how could she when all she sees is this hottie next to her with the most attentive expression? The way he nods his head once in a while when the poem gets deeper was so mesmerizing.

Terrence slowly turned his head and his eyes followed. Bridget looked like an idiot. She was staring at the wrong person.

"What's wrong?" Bridget shook her head, unable to utter a word due to her being caught.

"Hey Miles, where's your cousin?" Eloise said, looking around as if she can even identify his cousin.

"I see her." Eloise followed Miles who went to call his cousin but was stopped by Brahms who held her arm.

"Let him talk to his cousin alone." Eloise was unsure of what to say or do. Miles appeared to want to introduce her to his cousin, but Brahms prevented her from doing so. Should she follow Miles, who might be seeking for her, or should she listen to Brahms?

"So, did you come with the girl that you were talking about?" Dana smirked and nudged his arm.

Miles' eyes widened and placed his index fingers against his lips. "Don't embarrass me."

He turned around and was expecting to see Eloise behind him. But all he can see is a man who looked nothing like her.

"Oh, I found her." Miles returned to the spot where he had been with Eloise and Brahms previously.

"Hi, Eloise. I'm Dana, Miles' cousin. His first cousin to be specific." Dana grabbed both of her arms and engulfed her in a hug. Eloise was taken aback by the sudden hug she received. Eloise thought that no one can beat her level of energy but she is now proven wrong.

"Uhm hi. But how did you know my name?" Miles' hand reached Dana's mouth before she could say a word.

"I told her a few minutes ago," Miles claimed and innocently placed an arm around his cousin. Dana rolled her eyes and removed his arm.

"And who are you?" Dana looked at him from head to toe. She knew that this unknown man was exactly her type.

"Brahms Hughes. I'm Miles' boss." Dana slowly shook his hand as he extended his hand for a handshake whilst maintaining eye contact.

"That's enough," Miles coldly remarked. Dana dismissed Miles' remarks and linked her arm with Eloise's. Dana led Eloise away from the two gentlemen and sparked a conversation.

"My cousin is annoying, isn't he?"

"Not really," Eloise replied as she glimpsed at their linked arms.

"Are you sure? Did you see how he covered my mouth with his filthy hand?"

"I understand. I have a younger brother and I used to hate him for being restless."

Dana was the polar opposite of Miles. Dana's ability to come up with a new topic on the spur of the moment impressed Eloise.

"I know about the two of you," Dana bluntly brought up as she cast a cheeky stare at Eloise.

"The two of us?" Eloise nervously laughed.

"I don't know if you noticed, but I didn't invite any acquaintances or relatives to come here. Why do you think Miles is here?"

"You helped Miles?" Eloise hesitantly guessed.

"Bingo!" Dana exclaimed and slapped the wall.

"Please don't let my cousin down. But if he says or does something bad to you, I will ruin him. But I'm sure he won't. He's a good person."
