❝But it's just a crush.❞

Today was a free day for Eloise. She has no classes today and is off from her internship.

She can't, however, truly rest. Today, she's about to cover for a friend. Her friend from her major has a huge gig today but she's unable to come, thus Eloise came to the rescue.

The setting is a wedding. They are tasked to film the wedding and edit it on the same day as the couple wanted to watch the video with the guests at the reception. Her job was to help with the camera gear and do some errands for the videography team.

She wore a casual outfit that would not limit her to making hasty movements. Despite the fact that it is a wedding, she is not required to dress up because she is not a guest.

She assumed that nobody from the team knew that her friend asked someone else to cover for her. Everyone called her by a different name.

"Shane, come here. Let's move the cameras to the other side." She helped her boss move the equipment to the desired location.

Eloise patted her forehead with her hand as she was sweating from moving too much.

"Ms. Clark?" She turned around to see Dr. Hughes wearing a tuxedo.

"Dr. Hughes? You must be a guest?" She asked, hoping she was correct about the final part since she didn't want to humiliate herself.

"Yeah, the groom is a friend of mine," He said and took a sip from his wine glass. She suddenly felt self-conscious. Brahms was there in front of her, looking all fancy. While she is covered in sweat.

"You're part of the videography team aren't you?"

"Yeah, I was actually filling in for a friend."

"I figured. I thought I saw you earlier."

After that, Brahms vanished when a gathering of people approached him. Eloise had to leave because she needed to gather her belongings.

Since all of the work that's left is editing, she is practically done with her job. She left the venue and looked for a bench she could sit on while she fixed her hair. Eloise made her ponytail tighter and grabbed her phone to book a taxi.

"Ms. Clark." Eloise looked up from her phone and saw Brahms jogging in her direction.

"Leaving already?"

"Yeah. They gave me permission to go home."

"I'll give you a ride home," He offered and showed her his car keys.

"It's fine. The party isn't over yet."

"I actually already said my farewell to the couple. I'm really tired from work and I don't have the energy to socialize." Eloise later agreed and joined him in his car.

She can't believe she's actually inside Dr. Hughes' car.

"I'm really glad that I bumped into you," Brahms randomly stated, his eyes not leaving the road.

"Same here. I was only there for the job, but I felt a bit out of place."

"A home bird like me doesn't do social events." Brahms' words are a bolt from the blue. Getting a ride home from Brahms was shocking enough, but this whole conversation felt so different. She could not pinpoint exactly what she was feeling. She felt close to him.

"Thank you for the ride, Dr. Hughes," Eloise said as she removed her seatbelt.

"You're welcome, and by the way. Please call me Brahms." Eloise's lips curved upwards upon hearing his words.

"Okay. Then, you can call me Eloise."

"Bye then, Eloise." He slowly lifted up his hand but ended up drawing it back. He covered his mistake with a smile.

That was so close. Eloise knew he was about to pat her on the head and instantly regretted it.

She got out of the car without looking back to conceal her smiling face.

As she was about to get ready for bed, she called Bridget to tell her all the amusing events that occurred today.

"So the doctor that you were talking about last time offered you a ride home and attempted to pat your head?" She didn't say anything as a response but her small squeal made Bridget understand everything.

"Is he cute? No, actually do you have a picture?" She opened the social media app where she found Brahms' account and searched for his username that she found a few days ago. She didn't follow him since she doesn't have the guts to do so.

She took a couple of screenshots of his posts and sent them to Bridget. "He's really cute! But he's older right?"

"Yeah, but we're only six years apart." She heard Bridget ponder from the other line.

"I kinda disapprove of this one. Age gap relationships will be hard and he also works in the medical field. He will never have time for you even if you two ended up updating."

"You're right. But it's just a crush, and it's not like he likes me anyway."

"AHAH! That is where you are wrong! I do think he likes you. But you have to be careful. There might be a chance that he might not take you seriously." Eloise had to distance her phone from her ear as Bridget was starting to get too passionate.

"By the way. What about Miles? Didn't he confess to you again?" Miles almost slipped out of her mind.

"I don't know what to do actually."
