SIX!
to mordorNADINE HAD WAITED in the boot of the car as the others went into the convenience store to buy the supplies Eddie needed. She sat, cross legged, focusing on making her diary teleport around the car.
It had been fun, in a sense, getting to use her powers again. Strangely enough, it felt like an old part of herself was returning, exposing itself like the petals of a flower gently unfurling.
She watched the diary move from her lap, to the dashboard, to the middle seat, then back to her lap again. With a furrow of her eyebrows, she focused on the empty car parked next to Nancy's, and all of a sudden, her diary glitched to the backseat of the light blue Volkswagen, before jumping back to by her feet.
Telekinesis was one thing- it felt more like mentally pushing something, but teleporting was a lot more draining. Having to move something theough the known physics of space took quite the toll.
The boot opened, Steve climbing into the back, followed by Dustin, who had clearly chosen to join them in the boot instead of squished with Max and Lucas.
"Dude!" Steve huffed out in frustration, "Don't come back here! Your seat is in the middle row!"
"I don't see my name on it," Dustin sassed back, closing the boot behind him, and Steve seemed to give up, rolling his eyes.
Although he put on this front of finding the younger kids a chore, it was obvious he cared about them.
"Hey, Nads, we got you some American candy to try," Dustin said, "We didn't know how much they treated you in hospitals or whatever."
Nancy started driving out of the car park, turning on the radio to play as some background music as they made their way to where Eddie was hiding.
Steve opened up one of his plastic bags, pulling out various items- crisps, candy, chocolate, anything Nadine could imagine.
"Woah," she breathed, eyes widening in barely contained excitement, trying to take it all in.
"Take your pick," Steve gestured wildly to the packs of confectionery littering the boot floor.
Nadine paused, before choosing a pack of strawberry laces, and ripping open the plastic. Tentatively, she tried one, her eyes practically shining with appreciation.
"I knew you'd like it," Steve bumped fists with her.
Dustin offered her the tube of Pringles he had opened, "Try these."
Nadine tried one, before nodding in approval at Dustin, who grinned toothily at her.
"Not to be a wimp, but can I just sit in the car?" Robin exhaled heavily from the front, clearly stressed, "Because this is totally and royally going to suck."
