"Sebastian!" I screamed again.

This time, when I blinked to get clear my vision I was staring up at the canopy and Samson was nowhere in the room. I was tucked into bed, and the butler I had called was running in urgently with Ciel huffing in behind him. With a gun in hand, Ciel's eyes searched the room, but when he noticed that there was nothing he sat on the end of the bed. Sebastian kept his cool and stood beside him.

"Is everything alright miss? That was quite the yell," Sebastian commented.

Trying not to cry, I sat up and rubbed my eyes with my palms. God, suddenly I felt like I had a hell of a headache. "Yeah, yeah. I'm so sorry. It was a nightmare. Samson was being a fucking creep."

Ciel chuckled, "Would not be a first for him."

I laughed despite the throbbing behind my eyes. Sebastian studied me for a few moments before excusing himself, stating that he would be back with some water. Ciel and I were left alone and we both sat in silence for a few minutes.

Ciel looked tired but alert to his surroundings. Suddenly, I felt terrible for having woken him and reached for his hand. He looked down at my hand and then at me, no emotion on his face whatsoever. Probably something Sebastian taught him to do.

"Thank you for coming to check on me," I whispered, trying to smile.

He shrugged. "It sounded like there was a threat, so no matter we had to check on what it was."

"Fair," I said and released his hand as Sebastian entered.

He handed me the glass of water and I nearly swallowed the whole thing in one gulp. The whole nightmare made my anxiety shoot through the roof and it made my throat feel dry. Or maybe it was the scream. Who knows.

With shaky hands, I attempted to put the glass onto the nightstand but nearly dropped it in the process. Sebastian, faster and more agile, caught it before it could hit the ground. Never had I felt so absolutely helpless.

I buried my face in my hands, sighing. "This is all so horrible."

Ciel snorted. "You wouldn't have said that a few weeks ago. It was like a dream come true when we first appeared in your world."

I looked back up at him, "Between the crazy magician and changing worlds, I think you would agree that it's a bit traumatizing."

"Touche," Ciel said and stood up. "Very well. You seem in better spirits--"

"I'm not. I'm absolutely terrified right now."

I wouldn't lie to him about the anxiety crawling up my throat in a threat of another breakdown, and I didn't care if he thought it was a moment of weakness. Ciel regarded me a moment, switching his gaze from me to the floor, then to the gun still in his hand. Finally, he looked at Sebastian.

"Stay outside of her door until morning," With that order, Ciel turned on his heel and left.

I stared up at Sebastian and he stared down back at me. His eyes seemed a deeper shade of crimson in the candlelight, and his hair looked shinier.

"Is everything alright, Miss? Can I get you anything else?" Sebastian asked, reaching over to fluff up my pillow.

"No," I started to lay back down as he instructed by patting the spot he just adjusted. "Thank you, Sebastian. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

----

I hardly slept that night due to the anxiety of seeing Samson's creepy face crawling up the bed again. When I did finally manage to sleep it was to Sebastian's soft humming of some tune we had heard in passing earlier. It was soft and surprisingly a bit cheery, too. I didn't think Sebastian hummed, but what else could a demon think of when standing all night at a door?
