"JUST A BABYSITTER"
AKA; STUCK"So why Blue?"
"I don't wanna tell you Chim. You're gonna laugh."
"Hey, we would never make fun of you." Chimney reassured me, twirling spaghetti around his fork in a way that seemed mischievous to me.
I scoffed, "I'm sorry, am I speaking to your good twin or something?"
Once the station and bakery had both been repaired from the quake, it finally felt like the right time to tell the rest of the team about my name. Like I explained to Buck, I was running from someone that wasn't even chasing me anymore and now felt safe making my life more permanent in Los Angeles. They seemed to take the news without pressing more for more information than I was willing to give — which was incredibly relieving.
Why I chose Blue as my name though? That was the pressing question.
"C'mon — now you're making us all curious." Bobby said, probably trying to prevent a pointless argument between me and the other man.
"'Kay fine," I sighed, "When I first went into Fiona's Bakeshop, I sat at that little table below the big cupcake poster. You know, the one on the east wall?"
"Yeah." Hen nodded, "The big cupcake with blue frosting and a huge cartoony smile on it's face. I love that poster."
"I love that table," Buck said, dropping his plate of pasta on the spot beside me before taking a seat. "It gets the best light," He explained with a shrug after a couple questioning glances.
"Anyways," Eddie prompted me.
I included him when telling them too. It just felt right. Everyone at the 118 was a part of my family, but from the minute I met Eddie, it felt different. And over the last little bit, he, Buck and I were all starting to get closer as friends.
