diluc doesn't hesitate to tell them what had happened two years ago.

the wind howls in his ears as he tightens his coat around his waist as he and his brother, kaeya walk the empty streets of mondstadt. they have no idea where they're going nor do they have a plan in mind. the wind blew softly against diluc as it pushed back his bangs and the long locks of his hair.

kaeya laughs softly, "you have a big fuckin' forehead."

diluc rolls his eyes as he looks over to kaeya, whose hair seems to be in perfect shape even with how powerful the wind was. diluc's long strands blow in the wind, hitting kaeya who seemed to be in the direction of the wind.

kaeya spit out strands of diluc's hair as he stared into his eyes with playful hatred as they walked.

"sorry," diluc says as he moves his high ponytail away from kaeya's direction, "don't really know what to do with it."

kaeya shrugs, "never said it was bad. i mean, you remind me of dad in a way."

the conversation between the two comes to a pause at the mention of their dear dad who had passed away on diluc's birthday, of all days. it was a difficult day for everyone.

"i was so scared when you didn't come home, kaeya." diluc says as kaeya glances at him with sorrow and hurt in his eyes.

"i came back, though."

diluc nods, "uh-huh, that you did. i just-" diluc fumbles with his hands as he shrugs, "i thought i lost you that day. so when you came back, i was so relieved that i had thought well, at least i still have him."

kaeya wipes his eyes, his voice faltering, "don't make me cry."

"and if i do?" diluc asks as he looks at kaeya with mischievous eyes as he smiles slightly at the other.

kaeya looks at him, "i'll beat you up."

diluc gasps softly, "that's unfair, you'd win since you're way taller than me."

kaeya shrugs, "so? you can like duck and stuff, since you're so small."

"alright," diluc laughs, "i'm not that short i'm like," diluc counts his fingers, "five inches shorter."

kaeya nods, "uh-huh. right."

the two walk in silence one more time as kaeya brings out a large map that he had insisted on bringing just in case their phones died or they got lost. diluc wasn't sure that would ever happen as the both of them knew mondstadt like the back of their hand. the crinkling of paper is heard as kaeya rapidly turns it around and adjusts it, diluc having no idea what his little brother is doing. as diluc turns to kaeya to say some snarky comment, all he can see in the others' multicolored eyes is pure confusion all over him.
