authors notes: i promise soon this "arc" will end and then the last arc of this fic will happen <3 which i think is the most devastating arc so far. erm no comment on that tho.

oh yeah. i started learning how 2 drive and stuff so updates might get less frequent as im figuring out work and stuff.

no words are spoken after they kiss. 

not even when they are laid in bed next to each other and without any words venti still loops his arms around xiao's waist. sure, some might think that it was odd that they wouldn’t talk about what their relationship is but they still decide to do things like that. it’s quiet in the store that they had chosen to sleep in- macy’s, of all places but xiao likes it. not too much noise, not too many people, he enjoys it. sure, it’s because nearly all of the population had been wiped out due to zombies and such but it’s not like he can’t enjoy the fact that there’s much less things overstimulating him now.

a crackle comes from the bedside table where a walkie talkie that kunikuzushi had given him, “xiao? are you still awake?” 

ah, it’s zhongli.

xiao grabs it off the table and presses a button on the side, “uh-huh, wide awake. how about you?”

there’s silence before zhongli replies, “same here. where are you at?” 

xiao sighs, “macy’s. you?” 

zhongli laughs, “i’m all the way across from you. diluc and i couldn’t sleep so we’re just checking up on you and venti.”

xiao looks back at venti, whose eyes are half lidded and about to fall asleep in seconds, “i don’t know about venti but i’m awake.” 

"oh i see," zhongli says, "i was going to say don't make much noise if you and venti can't sleep but seeing as venti is asleep, nevermind." 

xiao pauses, "zhongli, what do you mean by that?" 

xiao's not stupid. he knows exactly what zhongli means by that, it's just funnier to hear the man explain what he means simply and clearly. also, he still really really hates the fact that zhongli knows exactly what is going on between him and venti. 

zhongli coughs on the other line, "uh, nevermind. i just– goodnight."

the line goes silent and xiao laughs softly as he sets the walkie talkie back on the bedside table. as xiao sinks back into the bed, venti rubs his head into the crook of xiao's neck as he mumbles in his sleep. xiao kissed the crown of venti's head before he rests his head back on the pillow, quickly falling asleep.
