venti doesn't know what to do.

sure, xiao has mentioned the fact that he can't really remember much of his childhood, only bits and pieces but he was fine with it. it never seemed to bother xiao that he couldn't remember much of anything that happened when he was a kid. venti didn't know how to comfort him due to the fact that apparently his memories were coming back to him in the most vivid of his dreams. it also did not help that these memories were the most traumatic ones and that was probably the reason why he could not remember them.

xiao sniffles as he looks away from venti and towards the window in his room. the window is fogged up with white particles falling down- it's snowing.

xiao fumbles with his hands in his lap, "i want to tell you what happened in my dream but it's just horrible. i don't know why i did it, well i do, actually just– it was something i did when i was irrational and i was a kid. i didn't know what the fuck i was doing. it's just– you might not like me if i tell you."

"i know what you did xiao." venti says softly as he glances up at xiao's nervous eyes before looking away, "i know you killed your dad."

xiao feels his heart stop. he has so many questions running through his head— what? how does he know? why does he know? is he angry? will he be angry? will he forgive him or will he forever hold some sort of grudge against him?

venti sighs as he brushes his long strands that had been left unbraided, "i didn't know how to tell you. you know, that i knew. i'm sorry. i really am."

venti expects xiao to yell at him how he's some sort of monster for not telling him but he does not. "you knew and you were fine with it?"

venti nods, "you always have your reasons."

"but even then, do you not feel unsafe?" xiao asks as his hands shake.

"i do not." venti tells him, "i know you would not do such a thing even though you're capable of it. i trust you, xiao."

xiao breathes shakily as he looks over to venti who is smiling at him with a smile that could heal a thousand people if he wanted to.

"you still trust me? even after everything you know about me?" xiao asks before chuckling, "i think you need to go to a doctor of some sort."

"well i am just crazy for you." venti says before laughing softly as he shakes his head, "i know you wouldn't do anything to me. you care. deny it all you want but i see the way you look at me when i sing qiqi to sleep, when i help your mother cook, even when i mess around with hu tao. you wouldn't hurt me."
