He got to school rather quick, it's wasn't a long drive, and honestly he could probably walk it. The weather cooled down, the days grew shorter and the rain was nonstop. He hated fall, a lot of others loved fall for all the colors it brought, but Adam was quite the opposite. It was always wet, and it felt colder than winter did on some days. The greenery held onto droplets so even if it had stopped raining, it could still rain off of the leaves of the tree. Maybe there just wasn't anything to be happy about, for him.
The school day passed slow, at lunch he saw his kind-of crush. She was pretty and honestly the only good looking person in this entire town. She loved to dance in the rain and she always wore long floral skirts with golden flowing hair. It always felt like she brought the sun out. But all good things come to an end. She was practically already married off to the hunk of the graduating class. This guys wasn't a hunk in good looks, but rather just sheer size. He was on both the wrestling team and football team and used it to his advantage. He held her like a trophy and flaunted his strength by starting fights. His name was Carson, no one really, truly liked him, but they had to pretend to.
Adam was a favorite toy of Carson's, they would constantly get into fights, on days when Carson didn't have his goon's, Adam wasn't a half bad fighter. Growing up in a small town meant the same fights were happening since elementary school.
Carson sat down at Adam's lunch table, no one sat with Adam anyway, so he just kept poking at his food. The two sat in silence for a bit before both eventually making eye contact.
"What's that for dumbass?" Carson asked aggressively, Adam was easy to anger.
"Oh I'm not allowed to have eyes anymore now?" He pressed on Carson.
"I just don't want your freaky little eyes tracing me like some sort of fag."
Adam chucked gently "says you, you're one peach short of an orchard." Adam looked at Carson again, studying him, they both chuckled a little. "Anyway, I don't wanna fight today, probably gonna officially end it after school." Carson looked at him with a smirk.
"Yeah what ever you say pussy boy, everyone's been waiting, ever since last time you tried people have just given up."

"I'm being serious, wanna come watch?" Adam gave a little seductive smirk, as though he just asked Carson to watch porn with him.

Carson shifted in his seat a little, trying not to look uncomfortable with what he said. "Hah,... your loss I guess, see you in hell... I think I'll leave early." And with that Adam got up and cleared his tray. He walked up to the lunch ladies and thanked them for the meal.

He walked pasted Carson and as he left and Carson grabbed his wrist.
"You don't mean it do you?," Carson looked almost concerned but it was very out of the ordinary.
"Why? You scared for me pussy boy? I told you I'm not fighting you today."
"No-... no, not at all, just kinda hoping your being for real." Carson's walls went back up, covering his concern with a shit-eating grin.

In a different life the two of them could have been really close friends.

Adam left the school through the front doors, at lunch people were allowed to leave but they had to back before class. He got into his car and pulled out a dab pen, pulling in a deep drag of it, his breath quivered as he breathed out but he didn't cough, it tasted like basil and lemon grass.
Adam sunk down in the drivers seat, resting his forehead on his wheel.
This time he was really gonna do it. He had been waiting all day. The only person he wanted to say goodbye to was Carson, one of the few major parts of his life that made it so shitty. He didn't care nearly the same for his dad though.
Tears pricked at Adams eyes. They came slowly, like blood when he cut himself. First it beaded up in small amounts but eventually it flowed and smeared until he was a mess. Sitting in the school parking lot, ugly crying, he was a mess all over again.
Carson and his goons and his girlfriend all walked out of the school going to Carson's truck. The only person that noticed Adam crying so hard was Carson. But he had to much pride to ever help him.

Adam started up his car turning on the heat, as the rain started up for the third time today. The ride was long, but it didn't feel like it was. Carson's truck followed far behind, only in view on long straight roads.

Again He reached the cliff-sides and parked in the same spot. He got out of the car, jumped the fence and walked past the rolling , wind-swept grasses to the cliffs edge. Carson's truck pulled up as he reached the edge of the grass to the rocky ledges and he looked down.

Carson jumped out of his truck and ran to the fence, not jumping it.
"SO YOU WERNT LYING WERE YOU?" He yelled, his voice barely carried over the sound of the waves and wind.
Adam turned back to look at him, while walking closer to the cliffs edge.
"THERES ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT" Adam yelled back, his eyes were puffy and red, piping out against his pale skin and normally sunken eyes. Some of Carson's friends slowly got out of the car but stayed near the car. "ACTUALLY WAIT, IVE GOT A GIFT FOR YOU." Adam trotted back to the fence and stood on the opposite side of Carson. He pulled out his dab pen and took a big long drag off of it, coughing as he exhaled a big cloud. He passed Carson the pen through the chain link fence,
"You can give me an indirect kiss through this you fag," He said with a chuckle. Carson took it softly and quietly, "I'll be getting out of your hair now."
Adam walked away, it would feel nice to finally leave this shit hole behind, he was glad he got to say goodbye this time. "CARSON, ONE MORE THING... TELL MY DAD I HATED HIM AND WISHED HE DIED FIRST." And with that Adam fell backward of the cliff edge.
It's like everything was in slow motion. There was no life flashing before his eyes, there was no brightly light.

Carson jumped the fence and ran full speed.

Adam hit his head pretty hard as he fell backward, knocking himself out during the fall.

His alarm blared again. Tuesdays always sucked, and his headache was extra bad this morning. He wasn't dead, again... was it just a dream? No he had left during school hours.

His dad burst into his room.

"Hey dipshit, what the fuck was with yesterday??," His dad grabbed him by the collar of his shit pulling him closer to yell harder, "Your school called and said you were absent after lunch yesterday and then you didn't show up last night till real late all scratched up just chilling on your bed." His dad slapped him crisply, cutting open his chapped lips.
Adam punched his dad back to get him off and it worked.
"What am I not allowed to have free time?? It's not like you actually give a shit, it's the beginning of the year, get off my ass."
His dad just scoffed aggressively and left the room, slamming Adam's door. He would think about it more later. How did he not die? How did he get home? It was to much to think about in the moment.

For now he would just try to go to school to see if anyone else acts weirdly.

Anyways sorry(not really) for such a depressing chapter. I wanted to add this character that was hated but it was a good lasting relationship that is entirely based off hating each other, I recently got out of one of those kinds of relationships and i kinda of miss it.
