"I FUCKING HATE CHEERLEADING."

I complained as we walked through the cafeteria doors, making Eddie groan in annoyance.

"Really?" He asked sarcastically. "I would have never guessed. It's not like you are complaining about it whenever you lay eyes on me." I rolled my eyes. "Oh come on Alexia, why don't you just quit?" He asked as we took our place in the queue for lunch.

"Eddie." I stopped in my tracks, grabbing him from the shoulders and turning him to face me. "You're a freaking genius." I stated with a serious face, making him frown in confusion and fear. "How did I not think of that?" I asked.

And that's when he picked up on the sarcasm, and rolled his eyes.

I smiled at him and given the fact we were still rooted in our spots on the queue, we heard a couple of complaints from behind us.

"What!?" We said simultaneously, turning around.

People were still yelling, so we looked at eachother with the same mischievous smiles, turned back around and raised our middle fingers, before laughing.

"Every single time we have this conversation I'm telling you the exact same thing; try having a mother like mine. She knows everyone! And when I say everyone, I mean everyone." I said as I took two apples, placing one on my tray and one on Eddie's, making him roll his eyes once more.

"Just quit. She'll never know. It's not like she comes at any of the practices or matches anyway." Eddie replied shrugging nonchalantly.

"First of all, rude. Second of all, what exactly did you not understand about the, she knows everyone, thing?" I asked, annoyed at my best friend. "I'm talking about Saturday evenings with Mrs Cunningham and morning coffees with Mrs Carver. I can't escape her." I took a juice box and we left towards our usual tables.

"Look, there's not much I can tell you. Just, be patient and we'll figure it out. Together. Alright?" He said placing a hand on my shoulder.

I smiled softly and nodded as he smiled back. We stayed like that a couple of moments, none of us daring to move, content with eachother's company,  before we heard voices from his little 'outcasts' table, making Eddie groan in annoyance.

"Guess you have to go. Your pariahs need you." I winked, said a quick goodbye and left towards a free table.

I heard Eddie sigh before leaving as well, towards his table.

After a couple of minutes, two hands gripped my shoulders from behind, causing me to almost choke on my food.

I started coughing as the person laughed.

"You should have seen your face!" She said in between laughs.

"Ha, ha." I said sarcastically, chugging down multiple sips of water. "One of these times you're gonna regret doing that, I'm warning you."
