I WOKE UP TO THE SOUND OF BIRDS CHIRPING OUTSIDE THE CABIN.

After the guys left last night, me and Eddie were looking around for places to sleep, ending up to our only option, except for the floor.

The boat.

The most uncomfortable sleep I've ever had.

And believe me I've slept in many uncomfortable places.

Opening my eyes I saw that Eddie wasn't here. I looked around slightly, only to find him looking outside the window that was next to the door, with the broken beer bottle from yesterday still in hand.

I slowly walked out of the boat and approached him.

"Hey." I said, making him flinch despite my soft tone and turning around immediately. "Woah, calm down, it's just me." I said, wrapping my arms around myself.

"Sorry." He said and looked back out the window.

"Are you okay?" I asked, although I already knew the answer to that.

My assumptions, instinct and logical mind said that he wasn't, but be just replied with a small hum.

"Oh come on. Who do you think you're talking to? I know you far too well to be fooled by that." I was now standing beside him looking out the window as well.

He didn't reply. He just kept looking outside. What for, I don't know.

"Eddie." I called softly, making him hum once more, but still not averting his gaze off the view outside the dusty window. "Please look at me." I said, but he didn't budge. "Please." I pleaded once more this time making him turn around with a sigh.

His eyes were bloodshot red and puffy, his cheeks stained with tears.

I placed one palm over his cheek and felt him melt into my touch.

"Eddie." I sighed. "Did you get any sleep last night?"

He just shook his head, my lips forming a tight lipped smile.

"Promise me that you'll try and sleep a little tonight. For me?" I murmured.

He sighed again and closed his eyes for a while.

After that, I tried to make him feel better. To remind him of the good things and show him the bright side of the coin.

Although it was well hidden, even for a coin...

After about three hours, evening outside, I had finally persuaded Eddie to go and sleep a little. Or at least close his eyes for a few seconds to relax.
