Hilton and Bates caught you before you could sneak by them. You hadn't seen them until the last minute— the time they saw you, that is.

You quickly averted eye contact and tightened your hold on the black hoodie in your hands, holding it closer to your chest. You began to walk faster, but the two were faster. They would never miss an open opportunity to tease you.

Stepping into the building, you let go of the door and silently prayed that it would hit one of them. By some miracle, it did just that and you smiled to yourself as Mike swore behind you.

The two caught up to you and you found yourself swiftly walking with one on either side of you, both of their eyes on you. Mike was grinning like the Cheshire Cat and you prepared yourself for whatever comment he was going to make today.

"Come to see your boyfriend?" He teased.

You navigated your way around the place with ease, and gave him a delayed response, your voice low and hinting that you weren't having any of it today. "He's not my boyfriend."

Mike laughed and nudged your shoulder. "You sure as hell want him to be though. You're always Trey this and Trey that. Why don't you two lock yourselves in a closet and make out already?"

You didn't want to give him any satisfaction, but you couldn't help the sharp glare you sent his way. "Don't you have somewhere else to run your mouth, Hilton?"

As the words left your mouth, Burrow walked by with wet hair, a clean pair of clothes, and a towel slung around his shoulders. "Not until 4." He said. A Spongebob quote could never be spoken, couldn't even be muttered, without being finished if Joe Burrow was around. Spongebob Squarepants was his religion.

"Hi Joey." You grinned.

He smiled back. "Hello Y/n."

And then he was gone, and you were alone with Jessie and Mike again. Why'd the quarterback have to go?

"I'm serious Y/n," Mike began again, "every time the two of you are together, your eyes scream 'bedroom' but neither of you do a thing."

Jessie rolled his eyes and cut in— not before reaching over and slapping Mike in the back of the head. "He's just pulling your leg, Y/n. Ignore him."

Your eyes shot over to the safety and your brows pulled together. "You alright, Bates? You aren't cracking any jokes. Its...concerning."

The three of you stepped onto the practice field, and without missing a beat, Jessie cupped his hands around his mouth.

"Trey, your girlfriend is here!"

Everyone within a mile must've stopped and looked your way and your face heated up at the attention. And Jessie's words. You sucked in a breath and let out a heavy sigh.

"And there's the joke..." you mumbled. You ducked your head and hurried over to the middle of the field to get to Trey.

Trey's attention was already locked on you. His dark brows were drawn together. He was confused, but he would never deny how happy he got whenever you would visit.

When you finally looked up and saw him, you widely smiled. No one else in the world made you instantly happy like he did. Except maybe a few fictional characters, but he didn't have to know either of those things.
