'God Bless Us All'

3rd POV

During the apocalypse alone in the city there is only one way someone can live if you have more people the more infected notice you, so being in a building by yourself it feels safer than being with others, but it tells you subconsciously that you need to be more alert of your surroundings.

Being in a low populated area is just as bad as the city, but no matter where you go you will end up either dead, robbed, or alone whether you choose the options or not, they will come to fruition eventually.

(Y/N) Beck a 21-year-old on her second year of college to be a therapist. Just on the outskirts of the city, Atlanta, she was driving her car to her house through the back roads when she seen a red Honda civic on its side with the caution blinkers on.

She pulled her car over, took out her phone and dialed 911, only for the line to keep ringing. "Damn it!" She exclaimed, so she hung up the phone and rushed out of the car to see if anyone was injured to find the windshield smashed and lined with blood as if someone was thrown through it, the trail of blood that led from the windshield to the end of the road, into the woods.

"Hello?! Is anyone hurt?!" (Y/N) called out hesitantly only to hear the sounds of unhuman grunts and growls. The sounds put her into full panic as she rushed back to her car, turning the ignition and driving away from the scene not daring to look back. "No, no, no. No."

Arriving home she noticed all vehicles gone from the driveway and the door to the house left open. Grabbing her car keys and putting them between the knuckles on her right hand for protection. She slowly got out of her car and quietly walked towards the house leaving her car door wide open while the dinging rung out from it.

Reaching for the door, pushing it open the only thing that she seen was the TV luminating the living room with an alert broadcast playing on repeat. "Stay inside, avoid outside contact, and do not interact with anyone acting out of the order for the sickness has spread and there is a refugee camp in Atlanta, God Bless Us All."

"Oh, God. Mom?! Dad?! Are you home?! Anyone?!" (Y/N) yelled but to no avail. Unknown to her the yelling had grabbed the attention of one of the dead that wandered into the open house and reached out for her grabbing her hair and yanking her head down, gasping from the shock and pain (Y/N) was able to see her attacker and how torn the flesh was on his face.

The infected brought his head down snapping his jaws at her causing her to take her free left hand and push its head away, avoiding its mouth, but as the dead had yanked her head back and her pushing it away had caused her and the infected to fall on the floor, her hand still pushing the creature away.

The keys fell out of her grasp as she and the dead fell, her now empty hand searching for the keys or any object near and to defend herself, she grabbed the nearest thing her hand could reach, that being an ashtray, and smashed it onto her assailant's head.

knocking him down just long enough for her to sit up, turn, and strike him over and over again in the head until her arm was sore and numb at the same time, the body was limp. All she was thinking was 'I could have died.' and 'I just killed a man that looked dead.'

BEEP! BEEEP! BEEEEP!

Being alerted by the noise (Y/N) turned toward the sound that the TV was making. 'This just in, DO NOT I repeat DO NOT go into the city the sickness has gotten into the refugee camp it is NOT safe and for those who here this my God Bless Us All.' The news anchor stated before the TV turned off all together.
