Amelia's next lesson with Peter Ballard was finally going to happen. But it was way too early in the morning, for the both of them.

"How are you today Melia?" Peter asked, fiddling with the cassette player that was brought into her room.

"I don't want to talk about anything at the moment." She growled.

"Well we are going to have to talk about it." Peter states matter of factly, looking up at the girl as she paced the room.

"No, we aren't." She laughs with a heated sigh.

Peter groans, "Melia-"

"Oh don't 'Melia' me peter. You saw him. You saw what 002 did to me! That sneaky bastard. He thinks he is so much better than everyone else! Talks down on everyone and now I upset over a god damn 13 year old!" She raised her voice with each sentence.

Peter laughed at her stressed outburst. "Melia, I would agree you are being outrageous." He said with a smile.

"Outrageous? More like outraged!" Amelia continued to pace the room. "And my father does nothing about him! Just a 'firm talking to. ' Whatever that means."

Peter sighed and shook his head. He finally hit the play button. "Maybe let's just breathe, ok?"

The sound of classical music filled her ears and instantly destressed her mind.

"Peter, I want to drop kick 002." Amelia said spinning to face Peter.

"I understand that but you need to understand that you can't do that." Peter got up from his chair and put out his hand to Amelia. "Would you like to dance?"

Amelia took no mind to the somewhat strange offer mainly because she really didn't have a choice. She took his hand and the started a slow waltz.

"I know my father wants to understand what me and the others go through, truly I do! But..." she paused and let out a groan, "002 acts like he leads the pack! Like he was the first." Amelia complains.

"Yes, yes he does. But?" Peter asked, trying to keep her attention on him. Her mind seemed to be other places.

"But! He isn't! He can barely keep his power flowing. It's a poor excuse for someone who thinks he's number one." She huffed, rolling her eyes.

"Then who is? You don't have a number, and you are considered 'patient zero'. So who is 001?"

Amelia looked fiercely into Peters eyes, her emotions still hot from her previous complaints. "001 is a folktale. A shit one at that."

Peter looked at her with and amused expression. "Folktale?"

Amelia let out an airy laugh. "Oh yeah, folktale. 001 didn't exist until they needed to persuade the other kids. It gave them something to work for. Something unattainable? Yes. But also hope." She shook her head looking down for a brief moment. "But it was just false hope. Longing to be the next best thing. They all longed to be something that didn't exist while they all feared what was real, the thing that did exist. Me."

"They fear you?" Peter asked, tilting his head to try to look in her eyes again.

"Yes." She sighed, giving in and making eye contact with him. "And no. They did fear me. I was always unstable but always my fathers favorite. But I would grow impatient sometimes. And I'd lose my temper if something didn't go right." She shook her head, ridding her mind of the memories. "But they all think I've lost my mojo. Now they just treat me like shit. Saying I lost my power."

"We both know that's the opposite of what happened." Peter said nodding. Never losing eye contact with the hazel eyed girl.

"Yes, I've controlled it." She nodded back to him.

"Is that why you stay in your room most of the time?" He asked with furrow of his eyebrows.

"Yes, yes it is. It's better alone anyway. Less judgement. And less bullshit."

"Amelia, language!" Peter laughed out.

"Whatever." Amelia couldn't help but smile as she rolled her eyes.

They finished their dance just as a knock on the door rang through the room. The door opened to reveal Dr Brenner with a surprised look on his face.

"Amelia, are you ready to go back to your room now?" The doctor asked dumbfounded, his eyes jumping between the two.

Peter gave Amelia a curt nod and a small smile as he stepped back, allowing her to leaving. Almost saying her lessons where done for the day.

She returned the smile and looked towards her father.

"Yes sir, I am ready."

The doctor walked his daughter to her room in a comfortable silence.

"You like him." Dr Brenner spoke up from behind her.

Amelia stopped dead in her tracks. "What do you mean?" She asked turning to her father.

"You don't let anyone touch you. Rarely even me." Dr Brenner said with a smile.

"I've never been asked to dance. Maybe I like dancing. You could have asked me to dance." She snapped back.

"Hey, I'm not judging. I promise. It's just nice to see you finally open up to someone. Even if it is just dancing." The doctor said with an even larger smile.

"Yeah yeah, whatever. I'm tired. And currently angry at you so I'm going to bed." Amelia said entering her room.

"You are still upset about 002?" Brenner asked exasperated.

"Yes. Yes I am. Petty like my father they say." She stated and closed the door.

"Hey! We are talking tomorrow! About this!" He said calling through the door.

Amelia didn't answer him she just sat on her bed, brushing out her auburn hair.

"Amelia!" He yelled through the door.

Amelia sighed and got up from her bed. Unlocking it and opening the door.

Her father looked at her expectantly. Waiting for a response from his only daughter.

"Fine. But I get to sleep in." Amelia grounded.

The doctor sighed and shook his head. "Fine. An extra 2 hours-"

"I could use an hour with Peter as well. He actually listens to my side of the story. So make it three. And send Peter in before you." Amelia interrupted with a smirk.

Dr Brenner sighed. "Fine, two hours. With another hour with Peter. Deal?"

Amelia nodded with a smile. "Deal."

And with that, she shut her door and slept for the rest of the night.
