Ignore the update to this. Nothing has changed :)

Amelia hated how she looked. She despised herself for looking so bland.

Her brown hair just barely reached her shoulders and it was wavy and sometimes out of control.

Her hazel eyes were a mush of brown, green, and gold. Nothing like the beautiful blue eyes of Peter Ballard.

Amelia hated how she had to look at her reflection everyday. She hated having to look at every imperfection on her face.

Amelia wondered where her hatred of herself came from. There was no one else to compare herself to besides the other doctors, nurses, and orderly's that passed through her room everyday.

There was one nurse in particular that Amelia had come to hate, possibly more than she hated her looks. And that was Rachel.

Rachel was far prettier than Amelia. Rachel was thin but built. She had blonde locks that reached her lower back and these bright blue eyes that just angered Amelia.

What Rachel had for looks, however, she did not make up for in personality.

Rachel was obnoxiously loud. Her voice was high pitched and she was not the nicest human being.

Amelia tried connecting with the new orderly, per request from her father, but that was just impossible.

"I really don't see what's so bad about her!" Peter said to Amelia as the two sat in her room.

"She just gets on my nerves. There is something about her I don't like."

Amelia I really think you are over thinking it.

I'm really not.

A knock rang through the room as Amelia's head snapped towards the door.

It was Rachel. Of course it was Rachel.

"Hello Melia!"

Don't call me that. Amelia snapped. Peter looked at the two with wide eyes.

I'm sorry Amelia. I just hear Peter call you that I thought it was normal

A certain sparkle appeared in her eyes when she brought up Peter despite him being right in front of her.

Amelia could not stop herself from glaring at the female orderly.

"Hehe, anyway! Amelia, I will be helping you in your lessons today! Your Papa wants to see how we click."

Amelia sent a wild eyed look towards Peter who was suppressing his laughs.

"Oh and grab your violin! You are playing today. I cannot wait to hear you play. You know I used to play. I was pretty good!"

"Congrats, Rachel." Amelia said grabbing her violin case and following Rachel out of the room as she continued with her story.

"I am so sad I quit in 6th grade! Maybe I could have been as good as you are now!" Rachel stated in her singsong voice.

"Oh look at that, we are here! Goodbye!" Amelia said and walked into her lesson room and shut the door behind her. She immediately made eye contact with her father.

"You and Rachel seem to be getting along very well." Dr Brenner said with a smile.

Amelia threw back her head and laughed. "Oh yes, we are just the bestest of friends!"

Dr Brenner shook his head at her sarcasm. "Amelia, I thought you two would really click! She seems perfect for you!"

"She seems to be more interested in someone else." Amelia growled as she unpacked her violin.

"What was that?" Dr Brenner asked.

"I said she seems more interested in someone else." Amelia snapped at him. Taking a deep breath before resting her violin on her shoulder.

"And who is that?"

"Who do you think?" Amelia sassed again, earning a look from the doctor. "Peter. God, she's head over heels for him. It's sickening."

Dr Brenner only shook his head, a smirk forming on his lips.

"Oh I don't want to hear it father." Amelia rolled her eyes.

"This seems to bother you quite a bit." Brenner eased.

"Of course I am. Peter was the first person who was my age, or remotely close to it, who I felt actually understood me. Then this blonde haired, blue eyed beauty gets hired as an intern and seeks out the only man in my life! So sorry if I'm a bit bothered by her existence here at the lab." Amelia huffed, placing the bow on the string.

"Amelia, do you like Peter?"

"What do you mean by that?" Amelia asked.

"Never mind. Let's hear you play."

Amelia took in a breath and begun playing.

It was something she was making up in her head, a tune she will probably never play again.

She loved playing whatever without the expectation of it sounding good.

Dr Brenner wanted Amelia to work on playing with emotion, something he never suggests, in order for her to unlock her true potential.

She played for what felt like minutes when it was truly hours.

When she came out of her trance, Peter stood there ready to take her back to her room for lunch.

"You have really been improving." Peter said with his hands clasped together.

"Thank you. How long have you been watching?" Amelia asked, starting to put away her things.

"Only 20 minutes." Peter smiled.

Amelia smiled back. Of course she could just simply ignore the feeling of butterflies erupting in her stomach but she opted to just face away from Peter while her face burned red.

Once she finished packing up she turned to Peter and nodded towards him. He opened the door and they started the walk to Amelia's room.

"Peter! Amelia! Hello you two!" Rachel said, coming out of nowhere.

Amelia started walking faster.

Peter hooked his arm around Amelia's and kept her in pace with him.

"Hello Rachel! How are you today?" Peter said with a smile.

"Oh Peter, just the usual! Haha how are you?" Rachel said, her voice raising a pitch.

"Oh my god, I'm going to be sick." Amelia said under her breath.

Peter cleared his throat and gave Amelia a warning glance. She just rolled her eyes back at him.

"I'm great. Thank you for asking, Rachel." Peter said smiling at Rachel.

"Hey Peter, after you take Amelia back to her room wanna get lunch together?" Rachel asked walking behind the two.

Amelia's eyes snapped to Peter's. Her look said it all.

You wouldn't dare.

Peter smirked at Amelia.

"I would love to, Rachel."
