Katherine sat at a table in the back corner of the library with her walkman and a notebook on the table. She slipped a Blondie cassette into her walkman and put on the headphones. Looking around to see if anyone was in the library, she pulled out her grinder and rolling papers from her bag and a small baggie of bud from her bra. She propped up a textbook to block her just in case someone walked over. She rolled two joints as quickly as she could, put them gently into a baggie, and then stuffed the baggie into her bra, being careful not to crush them. She cleaned everything up and pulled out a small compact mirror.
If there was one thing Katherine cared about regarding her appearance, it was her eyeliner. She was always able to perfectly smudge it so it looked smoky, but not necessarily messy.
She fixed her ponytail, pulling out the bleach blonde strands in the front. Her hair was nowhere near as curly as Nancy's but it had a slight curl to it.
She slept for the rest of her free period, not caring in the slightest that she was drooling a bit on her chemistry lab report.
Katherine awoke to someone shaking her shoulder. She just grunted and turner her head to the other side. The person just shook her shoulder harder. Groaning, she lifted her head up and looked to see Eddie.
"Good morning Wheeler," he said quietly. She squinted, her eyes still adjusting to the light. "Still want that ride?"
Katherine nodded and got up while quickly shoving her notebook into her bag. She walked behind Eddie through the hallway to the main exit where the students would park. The cool September breeze hit her face as she walked.
As the two walked to Eddie's van, Steve pulled his car into the lot. Katherine watched as Robin walked up to his car.
"Give me a minute," Katherine said to Eddie, shoving her bag into the passenger seat. She walked up to Steve's car and knocked on the passenger side window, which Robin rolled down.
"You owe me Harrington. First Nancy flakes on me, then you. I expected better," Katherine said to him, pretending to be angry.
"Look, you know I would but I've been late to my last three shifts and Keith is getting pissed," Steve said apologetically.
"How are you getting home then?" Robin asked.
Katherine looked back at the van before replying. "Eddie." Robin gave Steve a look that Katherine couldn't quite read.
Steve looked at her with wide eyes. "You're getting a ride from Eddie Munson?" Katherine nodded.
"Yeah, I am. Now go before you get fired," she said, hitting the top of the car before she turned to walk away.
Walking back to Eddie's van, she passed Jason Carver and Andy. Even though it wasn't currently basketball season, the boys were constantly practicing after school in the gym. As she walked past them, she kept her head down, trying to remain unnoticed.
"Well, hello there Kate," Andy called behind her, grabbing her wrist. She sighed at the nickname and turned to face him.
"I told you not to call me that," she said. He gave her a smirk and bent down to whisper in her ear.
"You seemed to like it while you were under me," he taunted. Her jaw went slack as she glared up at her ex-boyfriend.
"Katherine, are you coming?" Mike called. Katherine looked up to see him standing next to Eddie's van. She nodded to her brother.
"I need to go," she said, trying to pull away from Andy's grip. She heard Jason laugh from behind Andy.
"Isn't that the freak's van? What are you doing with him?" Andy questioned. Katherine rolled her eyes.
