[NOELLE]
I can't believe I let Avery talk me into this, and I can't believe Cameron thought we were following him, which...is actually funny.
My phone beeps and I pull it out of my back pocket, it's my mom.
MOM: Hey just checking in, also letting you know we're all flying out this Monday.
ME: Why is something wrong?
MOM: No, just to see you.
ME: Okay well see you guys then.
MOM: Okay, I love you.
ME: Love you too.
I put my phone back into my pocket.
"Who was it?" Avery asks.
"My Mom. She, my Dad, and my sister are flying out this week."
She raises her brows. Avery knows I don't have a good relationship with my Mom or sister due to the fact that my Mom likes to compare me to Nadia. My Dad on the other hand doesn't compare us, I have more of a relationship with him.
"Hey Noelle."
Hero...
"It's Elle," I cross my arms. "I told you that."
"I think I prefer to call you Noelle, I find it pretty. The name, not you!" His eyes widen as do mine. "No- sorry I didn't mean it like that, I- you're not ugly um I actually find you really pretty." He awkwardly laughs.
My lips pursed together and I slowly nod at him. "Smooth," I say.
A girl walks in front of Hero, she's almost the same height as me maybe an Inch taller, I'm 5'4. She has brown hair that goes a bit past her shoulders.
"Hi, I'm Cierra."
"I'm Elle," I smile at her.
"So do you go to Columbia?"
"No, I actually go to Juilliard for ballet."
"Oh wow, that's really cool."
This feels awkward... like really awkward.
"How long have you been doing ballet?"
"Since I was 4."
Cierra just stares at me almost like she's trying to read me.
"Okay, I think that's enough questions." Hero steps in front of Cierra.
He puts his hand on my shoulder and he leads me to the couch. I sit, as does he which makes me scoot away. I scroll on my phone to make it look like I'm doing something.
"Are you...texting your boyfriend?" he questioned.
"I thought you said 'that's enough questions'"
He lets out a breathy laugh. "For Cierra, not me."
"Well, it's bold of you to assume I have one."
"So you don't?"
"Nope, and I'm not looking for one."
There's no point, I've honestly never had a boyfriend before. Between school and ballet, I wouldn't even have time, I hardly had time to hang out with Avery unless we were in ballet class together. My Dad wanted me to do whatever as long as that meant I'm having fun, my mom wants me to do literally anything else that doesn't involve ballet because in her opinion the only ballerina in the family can be my sister Nadia. She doesn't directly say it but I know that's what she thinks. Since I 'want to be like Nadia' she tried to push me harder than Nadia, compare us, and also state reasons I should try something else, but my Dad wouldn't let her keep doing it. At least not around him
"So that means I have no chance?"
"Basically."
He places his hand on his chest, "Ouch."
"I'm leaving now." I get up from my seat to walk to Avery.
I tap her on her shoulder, "Hey Ave can we go."
"Yeah, I was about to come to you but you were talking to Hero."
I roll my eyes, "I wasn't talking to Hero, he was talking to me."
She giggles at me. We go say bye to everyone, not Mr. Superman over there. Superman is 6'3 I don't know how tall Hero is but he's definitely tall.
Driving back to our dorm Avery tells me how she got Cameron's number, and that's good for her because it means she forgot about Matt.
"You know, you should give Hero a chance. He seems like a nice guy, plus Parker said he is."
I breathe in, "It doesn't matter what Parker said, that's his best friend. So it doesn't count, besides I'm not interested in the boy I have to teach ballet to."
"Whatever you say Jadie."
Jadie...the nickname she gave me in 4th grade that came from my middle name Jade. She usually calls me it when she thinks I'm lying or she's very happy, I think it's both right now.
"I'm not lying ya know," I cross my arms.
"Sure Jadie."
I tried making this chapter at least 1000 words but that didn't happen lmao. Anyways I will not promise updating dates because I am a slow writer. Also I hope you guys notice the parallel between this chapter and chapter 2.
