Finally . Mariam has been sentenced to thirteen years imprisonment for drug trafficking, murder and kidnapping.
I don't even know what became of her parents. They were given bail.
Justice was given to Hillary. I've spent months crying and worrying over someone who planned for my downfall.
Hillary was right, I never knew Mariam and till today, I don't know her, I don't know why she did any of that.
I hope when she comes out, if she does eventually, she comes out as a reformed person. She has caused people pain.My parents never got back together, but my dad still come around.
I, have been given admission into National Open University Of Nigeria.
I sneak into Rotimi's room, he's still sleeping, his hands on his chest as he snores lightly. It's his birthday. My little brother is now 7.
That fast, a year has passed. Time really flies.
I move closer to his bed, and i yell "Happy Birthday!" He jumps up, bumping his head against mine.
"Oww, is that your way of saying Thanks?" I teased him, rubbing my forehead.
He smiled and hugged me, "When did you come back?"
"Yesterday. You were asleep when i came back, but who cares, today is your birthday. You are seven now, you are becoming a big boy." I smack his hand playfully.
"Come on, get up, get dressed, your presents awaits downstairs."
It was an holiday period. Heck yeah, It was Christmas. Rotimi's birthday falls on Christmas. Lucky him.
He puts on his floppy slippers i bought for him the last time i came home.
We walk down the stairs into the dinning room.
Something smells good. I know why, Mom is in the kitchen. I walk into the kitchen and I hug her.
She taps my hand, "Don't let me burn myself. Help with that cooking."
Oh,Mom,I missed you. I missed my brother, missed my dad. Missed home.
"Check if there's enough salt in the rice." She asks, giving me a spoon . I take the spoon and packed a spoonful of rice.
"Ouch" It burnt me. "Salt is okay Mom." I tell her and i placed the spoon on the sink.
Time for Rotimi's present.

The Truth About Mariam.
I remember it as if it was yesterday. A year ago, i promised myself and a dead girl to find her killer.
I hope i fulfilled my promise. I saved her from her self. Mariam needs help, not only imprisonment. She needs someone who would love her, care for her. I'm not justifying her actions, but i kinda understand her. With all the suffering and all what her parents did to her. She really is heart broken. I still don't get why she hates me . I never did anything wrong to her.
In this life, you've got to be careful of the people you call your friends. They might end up betraying you. I don't know why she did it. No one does, she never said why she did it and just like she said, life's a mystery and why she planned her murder and all those charades remains a mystery, a mystery to the grave.
There are lot of people like Mariam out there. Who caused others pain, pains that become scars, and they never heal. They remain in you forever.
People like her need help, they need all the love and attention, no matter how bad they seem to be.
Hillary. I never knew much about Hillary. He wasn't really a close friend of mine. But he didn't deserve to die.
Till today, a lot of things still confuse me. I have no answers for any of them.
Life thought me a lesson.
Teachers don't teach you about life, Life teaches you about life. So, so long. This's my own world now.
