I was challenged some time ago by a frequent 'pen pal' and loyal reader, to put my characters together in a story. She thought it would make a wonderful tale. I laughed it off even though she was serious, and it never came up again. Sadly, she passed away last Christmas (2021) after a long struggle with a number of ailments. She was in her mid-twenties, and the world lost a unique voice, a clever mind, and a good friend.

It wasn't intended, but her idea niggled at me, and I figured maybe I could grant her wish as a belated tribute. The following story, I hope, would have given her plenty to chew on, with lots of opportunity to comment, tease, and generally give me a hard time – in her fun way.

I dedicate this story to, Naomi Marshall, an American friend, a very proud Virginian, and a sadly missed pen pal.
