Chapter five.

Aiden.
I smirked as I watched my mother yell at me over the dining table. my step father was engrossed with the news paper or so he claimed to be, my step brother Sam was casually eating his breakfast and watched on with a bored expression as my mother yelled her head off. I threw my hands at the back of my head, leaned back and put my legs up, crossing it over the dining table.

Sam's eyes widened, probably at my guts and then sharpened into a glare which I ourightly ignored. My mum's glare intensified and my smirked widened.

" So you are behaving as if I'm talking to breeze abi??" She snapped.
" My friend will you get your legs off this table and stop behaving like a commoner"

I rolled my eyes and reluctantly brought down my legs from the table. Casually, slowly, to further spite her. It was so funny how she used the word commoner, almost as if she never had the experience of being one, almost as if she never had the experience of going hungry over a day or two or selling little things here and there just so we could eat and put food on our table and that was before she married Kunle.

My mother's hypocrisy irritated me. She suddenly became somebody I couldn't recognize over night once she had become familiar with the benefits of enjoying money, of knowing how living in luxury felt like. She picked off a non existent splint off her designer blazer. I rolled my eyes again and stood up.

"No wonder, you were deported from the states, why won't they deport you when you're being on acting like a vagabond" she sneered. I scoffed.

Kunle carefully dropped his news paper down and chuckled   " it is no surprise here that your pathetic son is a failure obiora, we keep wasting our money, resources, time and energy on the lunatic. It's like pouring  water through a basket. It never gets full no matter how much you try". My mother's expression softened. I pretended what he said didn't hurt me, threw my head back and laughed. That warranted another glare from my mother.
"Aiden!"

"You think I want your money kunle, do you think I care about your fucking resources.?" I sneered.

" You better not curse in my house" my mother reprimanded.
"You should be grateful that we're trying to give you a good future, we put In one of the best universities in Abuja even after you got yourself In trouble, embarrassed our family and got deported from the states. You this ingrate" mum yelled at me.
I scoffed again.

Kunle wasn't concerned about me, he couldn't give two fucks. He was more concerned about his reputation and his political career. So of course Imagine what people would say if he didn't put his step son in one of the best universities. People would ask questions and he didn't want that, it wasn't good for his political aspirations.

I speed walked out of the dining room, writhing in rage. Mason the house butler stood at the side of the door " good morning young sir" he bowed a bit. I ignored him. I already told him the exaggerated pleasantries were unnecessary.

" Tell jonathan to give me the keys to the Benz, I'll be driving myself to school today".
"Yes sir" he bowed again. I fought the urge to roll my eyes. I drove to school, convincing myself that all my mother had said didn't hurt me. Fuck mum! Fuck Sam! And most importantly fuck kunle! I couldn't care less.
